Hi DC Could you let me have the names and original wording and I will get a friend of mine to make something in stone that if its in turkish and english and maybe greek it might fare better.Possibly the elements and ignorance of the purpose helped its decline.I will be back this month.

@ msg 9, cavalryman: A great idea! There has been contacts already with the muhtar of Ozanköy (Buffavento seems to be on his territory), but the only thing that happened was a clean-up of the Buffavento parking place and the area around the monument *.

It may be a matter of a lack of money that the monument was not repaired yet.

I must have detailed pictures with the original text somewhere in my archive, will look them up and contact you.

Again, what a good idea!



* It should be said here also that I hardly saw any rubbish there yesterday - cleaner than I can remember from many visits!

I first saw the monument in 1993 & every year onwards until 1999. It was untouched during this period. After a long gap revisited in 2007 which seems to be when the vandalism began. I also have many photographs - somewhere!
