Jock with these gas heaters are they designed so can you attach a flue pipe to them the vent out the noxious gases which reduced moisture buildup as well or can they only be used unflued ? Aussie

Jock - our last one lasted about 10 days, but we did sometimes have it on higher than one burner Aussie - there is a warning on the box NOT to attach to a flue

The fires usually burn for 5 - 6 hours, most have an automatic safety cut out. They have to cool down before you can light them again.

Jock, when you say 8 days, I'm guessing you don't mean 24hrs a day do you? So how many hours per day? Am interested as our new rental has one but haven't tried it out yet and would like to know how economical they are.

susief, We have had them on at 1burner/2burner, burning an average 6hrs/8hrs a day and at the weekend we had it burning all day and it lasted 8 days. I am sure you will find your own average of burning, but at 30ytl not to bad in my book.

Thanks Jock! Do you find you need it on for that long? Would it make much difference to room temperature if on for say an hour? And yes i realise it will depend on size of your rooms of course and tollerance levels to the cold!!

Jock you must have the super economy model, our heater on full (3 bars) will burn a bottle off in 8hrs, stopped using it as the amount of damp it caused was unbelievable, only for emergency use only now. Graham

For every bottle of gas that is used a gas fire produces about 6 gallons of water. Over a week or so this amount is perhaps tolerable, but heavier useage, particularly in a non ventilated space will cause loads of damp problems, the worst being mould growth.
