I am disgusted to learn that minor acts at Festival 11, some of whom who could at best be refered to as average karaoke singers, had a fine old time on the Cheshire Home dollar. Accorded to people I know on the committee acts such as Jerry Roberts, Funky Monkey and others racked up almost 400 euros in expenses while others who live locally were put up in hotels.

Obviously there are petrol costs, and I understand Funky Monkey is based in the South, but some of these acts live in North Cyprus. These expenses should be made public so we can see who had genuine expense claims and who was freeloading at the bar.

I think there was also mismanagement and maladministration but it is even more galling to see people filling their boots and then patting themselves on the back for doing it all for "free". I will never be going to another Cheshire Home fundraiser

You got in before me, philbailey. Again, who do you know on the committee and can they not post for themselves , instead of through an intermediary ?

as i said before , most charity organisers are big fat pieces who eat all the best grub before anyone else arrives , get drunk on the free drink , demand a hotel room , then want travel expenses , and paid for doing a kareoke spot .

Anyone can claim to know someone on the committee to make a spurious claim

Haha, gone quiet, sorry I was out having a life. Fair point, it is catch 22 i won't betray my friend and thus cannot give you details. However, I am now told the details I mentioned were included in an official statement from the organisers a little while ago. Marion on this site should have it. Sorry may not be able to reply to any other criticisms, that pesky life thing i was telling you about.

Rowlo,

We invite you at any time to chek out the accounts relating to The Esentepe Fun in aid of Tulips.

Your assumption does a great dis-service to those who work tiressley to help those in desperate need of medical help.

I suggest you are referring to a minority of charity organisers rather than the majority.

Please contact me if you have any concerns about our fund raising activity -our accounts are available for scrutiny at any time.

You have a point although I would say it does not apply to all charities.

I am aware that some now ex-members of the group who volunteered for turtle watching and helping complained that they did not get a petrol allowance and had to provide some of their own materials.

For goodness sake if you expect to be paid expenses for charity work then do not volunteer.
