His song lyrics are so depressing that they have to be accompanied by ultra catchy tunes to offset them. He would have had a load more hits but for his miserable persona.

Paul, I totally agree that as a songwriter he doesn't receive the credit he deserves - but as a singer.....

Dodger/Newlad,

He may be a good poet... but as a singer of his own songs he.. well sucks really...

Some of the World's worst but still successful singers with what can only be described as compromised singing voices (e.g not a very good vocal range and not too good at hitting the notes) at least try to make a sound like they have not just awoken from a coma

Leonard sounds like he's still in one...

PS Leonard makes Bod Dylan sound tuneful...

Dodger, I'm with you on this one - he's a class act, but I understand that he's one you either love or hate....there are very few 'in betweenies' where he's concerned.

That's true Jimmy. I was a big Dylan fan in the sixties. I have to agree with Gavon and Paul though- he's voice has gone all strange. Too many 'deep breaths' I think!

No1, I was a big fan too back then and stood right next to him and his manager Grossman when they came out of the Turks Head Hotel in Newcastle en route to his gig at the City Hall in Newcastle. On his next trip he appeared on stage at the Odeon cinema in Newcastle & his first set was acoustic and then he appeared with The Band for the second half and a number of 'purists' walked out!!!

He's Greek sympathiser, 10 years on a Greek Island with Marianne and Suzanne is enough to brainwash any sane male musician!
