Good question! Some years back the government allowed a "big" reduction in road tax on vehicles over ten years old (that is registered in TRNC despite actual age of vehicle) plus a 10% reduction in road tax if you had no fines during the 12 months prior to taxation. I seem to have been lucky and had my road tax renewed whilst this thing was still in operation as my 1999 registered (1992 true age) Pajero SWB TD only has road tax of 660TL a year!

However, I think the government saw a drop in income and stopped the whole thing - or maybe you have to ask when you tax your car - as other Pajero owners in the same age/class seem to pay around 1400TL instead.

Best to ask at the tax office, I won't in case they put mine back up and demand the back tax plus fines as well - lol.

Deniz1, sadly road tax goes up every year by about 8% so that would cover your cost increase. Mine was 1440 the first year, then 630 (after the 10 year point) and last year it was 663. I was secretly hoping that it would drop every year but then I always hope for the impossible!!!!!!
