Hi Everyone

does anyone know how to contact Yucel Asan of Follow Me Restaurant. He takes groups on spring walks in North Cyprus and informs the walkers on the wild flowers and orchids of North Cyprus. We did a walk with him a few years ago now and have not been able to contact him since. We have also tried many times to visit his restaurant in Edremit without success. Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks

Tessa-Persil, Sorry I can't help you with the details you are looking for. However, I can recommend the walk by Tony Hutchinson as I went on that one yesterday. The walks are on Wednesday, meeting at 10am in Hisarkoy Village Square and go through some stunning scenery. Thoroughly enjoyable. Tony's tel.no. is 0542 8544329 or see the links about it on this forum.

Travelling to Hisarköy is very straightforward:-

Head west from Kyrenia out through Alsancak, Lapta and Karsıyaka and on past Gecitköy water reservoir and the village over the top past the Çamlibel turning. Keep going and turn left at the second sign to Hisarköy which is exactly opposite an Army base... This will lead you straight into the centre of the village.

Mrs G wrote message 8 and she drives like a bat out of hell...

I would leave 35 minutes for the drive from Alsancak to Hisarköy...

I took part in a walk organised by the Biological Society last Sunday and we had a chance to observe many varieties of orchids. It was interesting to learn that the name originates from the Greek word "Orchis" meaning testicles. Apparently orchids have double bulbous roots and hence the resemblance in shape.

I knew Yugel some years ago when he lived in Sht. Orhan Durusoy Sok in Girne. He probably still does and you could probably track him down if you wished to. (No pun intended.) He used to park his white van on the RH Side towards the bottom of the road outside the flats there. He used the market opposite the juction of that road on Salih Miroglu Caddesi they would know him.

Sht Orhan Durusoy Sok is off of the new Girne by-pass, first set of traffic lights travelling east to west turn right and descend the hill, you'll see where I describe.

Good luck I'm sure you'll find him.

Slatnumber7 Thank you very much for the information Slat, I dont know Yugel very well but we liked him very much and have tried to go to his restaurant several times and have never found it open. Do you know the season he opens and times. I know he is closed on a Sunday.

Many thanks again.

Tessa-Persil, Sorry for the delay in my reply 'bin battlling with the weeds in my garden. I can't help you with his restaurant times. I've never found it open either.
