Strange sun activity will hit Earth tomorrow night with the 'Northern Lights' being visible further south than normal to area's of England if the sky is clear. I just caught the the tail end of BBC radio 4 'The World Tonight' broadcast, about 40 minutes in but it's not yet ready for a link.

As far as I know the light takes only ten minutes to reach us. Why tomorrow night for the effects of a sun flare?

Just curious.

elko2 - Because it isn't light.

A coronal mass ejection is basically a 'gas' of charged particles which only travels at about 2000Km/s. Far slower than the speed of light.
