Whilst in Bodrum earlier this year, the locals advised me that when Turkey was established by Mr Ataturk in the 1920's,greeks in turkish areas were repatriated to greece, and turks in Greece were encouraged to return to Turkey.

This reciprocal agreement was repeated again in 1974,although "demarkation lines" were established in Nicosia - hence the Green line;and in other areas. Complicated is an understatement.

Political and economic considerations have totally changed since 1974 - but the historical repatriations over 80 years may be a bridge too far?

Only way forward should be free and open borders as in EU(with say 100 year land protection to existing land rights, communities, and their heirs? Any constructive thoughts, as it is Christmas?,kind regards to all,Steve
