HELP! does anyone have a Card Reader? Online Banking Annoyance!

Hi everyone,



We have been trying to transfer money from our British Account (Royal Bank of Scotland) to our Credit West account here in N.Cyprus, however keep hitting a wall when we try to transfer our funds between accounts online....



Our bank requires that we use a Card Reader to verify the card and account holder - we have telephoned the UK on several occasions now and there seems to be no way around this, less visiting the Scottish branch IN PERSON to conduct the transfer! Blooming banks!



But.... was just told from telephone banking that I would be able to use ANY card reader - they are not specific to the card or account holder.



Does anyone have a Card Reader for their own online banking that I could very quickly make use of, for just ten minutes? The telephone rep said that Nat West, Ulster Bank and RBS all use the same operating system and can be used.



If anyone can help, we would be HUGELY grateful! No idea what else to do! Been such a stressful experienc

If anyone has a Nat. West, Ulster Bank or RBS Card Reader, we would be so so grateful to be able to use it very quickly, at any time that suits you!

why dont you just write a uk cheque and pay in as a transfer



we do that with turk bankasi everymonth

Thanks Cyprusairsoft, but yes - it takes a while to clear and we just wanted it done! Something so simple - that is why you sign up for Online Banking!

Hi I think you may find that you have to register to use a card reader on your account. If memory serves me right Nat West sent a letter with a pass code in prior to receipt of the card reader. I had to register this code first before I could use the card reader so if you do not presently have a card reader you may find that you still cannot transfer money. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but I do hope it works out for you

Hi everyone! Thank you all so so much for all your help with this!



We managed to sort everything out - Batgirl had a spare card reader so we popped our card into that and within minutes, the transaction was complete! Honestly, technology is a wonderful thing, and I am so thankful for gadgets that help increase security, but when things go wrong......

Phew, that is a big load off my mind now!
