Well more good news to report for a change on here , after several weeks of blood tests, either messed up or read wrong, Nigel had the all clear today!!

Think it must be such a relief you himself and of course his wife Pat...

What a worry for all the under 60s, you would think a simple blood test would be easy wouldn't you ...

Rather a tasteless post, Nigel Watson`s personal affairs I do not think are for digestion on a public forum.

This thread/posting is valuable in that it is exposing the inadequacies of the blood testing system in TRNC, which is an unnecessary, racist insult to EU citizens.

Why is it not mandatory in the South - Republic of Cyprus?

It is simply another nepotistic government scam - end of.

paddywack, think every one under the age of 60, needs to be aware of the torment that this person has been through. It could happen to others , its called 'money for old rope'.... So beware ....

Why would he have put it up on his own forum,....... its called sharing !....

If more people had the courage to speak out about this then it may change things, I hear this is a regular occurrence with the state hospitals !

Well done for speaking out I say.

I do hope you have better luck next year !

Shame on the Ministry of Health for putting people through this stress.

Another result that goes to prove that their testing system is inadequate.

Well done Nige.

This is great news!

However, i would like to know what is going to happen now. Will you be reimbursed for the 500TL? Will you get a written apology (perhaps via the newspaper)? Will there be (yet another) change in the law? Will folk now be able to use private clinics? The list is endless...and i think needs to be addressed as soon as possible as this is quite clearly a serious problem...if a negative can be mis-diagnosed as a positive, then surely positives can be mis-diagnosed as negatives...and surely the latter has far worse consequences?!

I am very happy for Nigel Watson and his wife - what a nightmare it has been for them.

Never thought I would say this but I am very happy that we are over 60 and will not (at the moment) have to suffer the same worry.

I would just like to add though, what makes the government think that over 60's do not engage in sexual activity?!?!?

cypruschauffeur/Msg 17:

I applaud your posting, which absolutely encapsulates this appalling and unjustifiable behaviour perpetrated on EU citizens as a result of crass greed and sickening nepotism.

Has any body raised this issue in Bruxelles - would it do any good?

The British High Commission should be protesting at the highest level - some hope of that, though - useless idiots!

And what about Turkey - are they not the slightest bit concerned for their own reputation in allowing their 'little colony' to treat people in this disgraceful fashion?

Tenakoutou, I believe that NZ has similar testing requirments for people seeking residency rights there, though admitedly they are only 'one off' like they used to be here and no doubt not the same with issues of false positives and the like. Just pointing out the 'idea' that requiring testing of non citizens who wish to live in a foreign country is not that atypical as I understand it. Certainly the anual test requirment is hard to justify in my view, but not an inital test.

erolz/Msg 20: 'Certainly the anual test requirment is hard to justify in my view, but not an inital test.'

'One-off' testing is fair enough - everybody accepts that - but not this iniquitous rigmarole that the government have seen fit to foist on us temporaRY residents - merely to swell their ill-gotten coffers even further!

It is shabby legislation that is plain for all to see and further sullies the already rotten reputation that the country has earned by allowing all these property scams.
