I think his point is, after years in the doldrums with England and France sharing the spoils, Welsh rugby is back on the map of the known world... but I may be wrong!

Wales 5 5 10

England 5 4 8

Ireland 5 2 5

France 5 2 5

Italy 5 1 2

Scotland 5 0 0

Years in the doldrums;

Wasn't this their third slam in eight years?

"Years in the Doldrums"

This is Wales 3rd GS in, I think, the last 8 years. Well done to Wales, although I think they were fortunate against Ireland as their winning penalty was as a result of a legitimate tackle.

The England pack looked very strong today and if playing Wales next week could reverse the result. However, 2nd place for England is very good result for a new team, and I look forward to the confrontation at Cardiff next year.

Heard from some of my family is Wales they said Cardiff was absolutely great - and you know the Welsh any excuse for them to break into song - fantastic atmosphere - well done. Bet there will be a few sore heads in the morning.

The Welsh are the best supporters bar none... Even singing their hearts out in Princess St. Edinburgh after being gubbed by Scotland at Murrayfield the last time it happened... ah, so long ago now.

The whole of the UK are celebrating another Welsh victory

Bear, don't be misled by your win yesterday, you are still a long way off our form, your scrum was amazing yesterday but against us you would be in reverse

scarlet;

get those red tinted glasses off

Wales were clearly second best at Twickenham!

And should have lost in Dublin.

I was lucky enough to be at the match (fantastic spectacle as usual) and it seemed the whole of Wales had descended in Cardiff (and Newport later!!). A well earned sore throat from singing and a headache from celebrating this morning.

It doesn't matter about the 'if only's' - if only England had played better than the others over the course of the tournament we would be congratulating England.. or any of the others for that matter.... but we're not! See you at the Millenium Stadium next year and you can demonstrate your Grand Slam credentials then England. For now - we did it and well done Wales!!

Yes Hans, a god point

Cyprus1, how on earth can you throw a ball over the line and expect to be rewarded with a try. A little more self control and Strettle could have scored

Newscoop, well you obviously don't know the finer points of our beloved game, the scaore says we won but also the stats are stacked in our favour

Come off it scarlet;

The whole of the UK?

Re Strettle's try, obviously you don't know the finer points of the game.

Check out rule 22.

Dutch; stick to what you know about, football and speed skating. Leave the rugby banter to those who have actually played the game.

Ray,the referee said no try,therefore it is no try !!!!!!

Wales were by far the superior team in the tournament and fully deserved the Grand Slam.

Oh I was a pretty good Rugby player in my younger days.

"Spilt milk" springs to mind,when English fans can't make enough excuses for their team's bad performances.

It's a bit rich to talk about bad performances when a young inexperienced team and coach only lost to the grand slam winners in a very tight game.

Or are you saying that Wales win at headquarters was down to England's bad performance?

If so how good were the Welsh?

Newscoop - I think the key phrase in your response was "...lost to the grand slam winners". Seems pretty plain to me.

Also it is almost everybody's opinion (certainly mine) that Wales played nowhere near their full capability this tournament and still beat every team in their path.

Let's have this debate again next season when England reign supreme as Grand Slam winners 2013 no doubt - but until then... accept defeat with good grace (which as an-ex player you should recall that was one of the strengths of this wonderful game and the post-match dinner and drinks!!).

Anyway - I have taken the 'bait' for the last time. Until next year my friends.....now, where is my Wales Grand Slam Winners 2012 T-shirt??
