Hello all - now, I know I am a grumpy old cow. Have just spent another couple of hours clearing up after our last meal. Son and girlfiend (love 'em both) have spent Christmas between ours and hers. It's been great to see them and I appreciate their (very) healthy appetites. I mentioned that we might go to an hotel next year - if that was OK. "Well, we won't be here - we'll be in Australia". My son has spent a lot of time in Os - but it means we can go to an Hotel for a few days next year. Deep Joy!

IS IT ME???????????????????????????

But why do you put up with it ladies? Next year, don't plan anything. Sit back and let your husbands/kids take the strain. If they don't bother organising anything just book yourself into an expensive hotel and pamper yourself. Charge it to your husband's credit card and enjoy! Oh and don't tell them where you are going and don't leave any food in the fridge.

Or make sure your villa is finished and your flights are booked and then chill out in NC with a bottle of bubbly and a hot tub.

No trees no presents or stockings or xmas cake or turkey. No squabbling moody teens or family stresses.

Jo- I'll have you know that this Christmas Mrs Wick did not actually do any of the cooking, I made two starters, cooked the main course & made the dessert. Okay she did the washing up, but we do have a dishwasher. After the mess I make cooking she deserves a medal, why use one pot when you can use three?

Mrs Wicks..Mrs Coachie has finally decided that this year was the last time she was having the clan here.It will be interesting to see who offers to have us and the the other clan members (16) She wont go away for Xmas, says its a time for families to be together which I can appreciate but we are getting on now and its bloody hard work,so we will await the invitations with bated breath...

Hi Jean Yes I realised that after I had posted but hey its the same old thing every year!!!!! I reccommend going away we had a fab time. Coming back wasn't so great with all the snow though. Maybe we will just have to stay longer next time!

Sheila - I think you may have hit the nail on the head - of course, stay longer and don't come back to UK until about April - the weather may have warmed up a bit by then
