Hi has anybody out there got any idea who will get honours, I wonder if David Beckham will get his knighthood or Bruce Forsyth, hope they dont honour the fat cat bankers for thier services, hope that they will now go to people who have done a service to industry , community etc

Llli -msg 1. David Beckham get HIS knighthood. When he has been retired some 10 years and dedicated his time to some charity work like Botham, then perhaps, but he certainly can`t be awarded for services to football. And as for his sour faced wife,,Lady Vic ugh. Whats she ever done that has ever benifited anyone but herself.

As for Brucie its been reported his got wait another year.

I think Cooper should be a knight for his witty remarks.

I think they should take away Steve gerards honour for being such an ass.

I read at the weekend that he must wait another year, but I think he may get it in the birthdays honours list later in the year.

With very few exceptions the Honours system has become a meaningless irrelevance.

Why are people honoured for doing something they enjoy and get highly paid for?

With sports personalities....their reward should be the olympic medals.

With television personalities/film stars....their reward is the Oscars/Baftas etc.

Why make them a Sir or Dame?

What meaning does it have?

I am very glad to see Chris Hoy get a knighthood as he

got us 3 gold medals & is a very modest chap (which makes

a change from the overpaid, overrated football stars who

are often an embarrassment to us. (Sorry, fans but that is how it is)

The Wickes ..Even been on the TV about dear old Brucie not getting his SIR which to thousands on the internet say is long overdue..If we can have a SIR WOGAN, why not a SIR FORSYTHE..seems easy enough to me,it just means HM doing an extra 5mins at the ceromony....

Hippo....exactly !

In the great scheme of things...why does anyone care?

Brucie has been rewarded aenough for his particular brand of entertainment.

Hippo, wow, dont hold back, please tell us how you really feel LOL..

Dont you all feel proud that a TC woman the first to ever get an OBE? this is your new adopted country, doesn't that mean some sort of recognition for the TRNC?

I am a born TC but not living there and being away from it all hasn't changed the way I feel about TRNC (well maybe all the red tape crap and the overpaid lazy civil servants has affected me) ,but this makes me feel proud.

Can one of our Turkish reading friends please read and email a translation or post what she did, jsut a basic headline what she stands for, my Turkish is not that great. The link is in message 23.

thanks.
