I had one if those in 1968. Sold it in 1969 to get engaged. Great cars.

I think I know who owns this and have forwarded your post and email address to them so they can contact you direct. If it's not the same one they certainly imported one earlier this year.

Daisy There is a classic car club in the TRNC that will be able to give you all the info you want about importing your car. I will try to get contact details for you. AJ

This is the Classic Car Club website http://www.classiccarscyprus.com/aboutclub.html If you want to import a classic you have to do it through the club as they have been licenced by the Government to issue import licences. The person to speak to is Tamer Konat.

Hi there Thanks for this. We have already imported one classic car. But, as you are aware, the goalposts move significantly and we wondered what the current cost of taxes is likely to be if we import another classic for the other half. We do know Tamar K at the Classic Car Club and he is superbly helpful. In the meantime we shall have great fun driving the MGB roadster in the beautiful sunny weather in the UK! Happy New Year to all. Daisy

Hi Daisy If you go to Customs in Lefkosa they will tell you what the tax should be in percentage of valuation terms. We provided a letter confirming original price of our car which was all stamped etc by the Club and also the Ticaret Dairesi in Lefkosa. The problem is when you get to Customs at Famagusta they seem to ignore the letter and come to their own valuation. Either that or they just pluck an exchange rate out of the air (in our case it was equivalent to 3ytl to the £ in August). By that stage, when you have been there all day and they are about to close, you tend to just agree to whatever they say. Jo

Hi there Is it your MGB? We imported the Morris Minor (aka Daisy Minor) last year and had endless visits down to Famagusta. At one point we walked out and said "stick the car" but, of course, we went back to collect her and pay the dues. It just seems to me that the goal posts seem to move all the time and we wondered what was the going rate for a similar car to our own. Our's is a 1972 MGB Roadster also in British Racing Green. We did however have fun driving it in the summer in the UK last year (it was fun, but not sure about the"summer" bit!)

Hi Daisy sorry to disappoint you but ours is not the MGB but a Mercedes SLC.
