Hi

I just brought a new web cam with built in Microphone back from the UK, told them at PC World I had Windows XP then when I went to download the CD to install it, now telling me I need Windows Vista? is this something I can download or do I have to buy yet another thing, can't take it back as there is no PC World over here. so stuck with it now, and I was so looking forward to seeing my granddaughters on the web, any help would be appreciated, or is it the bin for this web

Have you uninstalled all the software to do with the Cam before installing the software from the link provided above?

The software from my old web cam had been uninstalled before putting the new disc in. I have looked over the box and there is no number, on the new disc it just says QuickCam v11.7

Under that 610-000308 Windows XP Windows Vista

I dont know if this is of any use

Thanks again for your help

I need to know every detail about what is happening during the software install. Like did it install or get so far etc etc...Any error codes you are getting and word for word what error messages are saying. This camera is for XP as well as Vista.

Email PC World and let them know it will be returned as it is not fit for use - you bought it asking for it to work with XP.

Get their confirmation and then mention it might take some months and the refund may not be to the same card as you bought on.

When you have confirmation go and buy one locally at a sensible local price.

I will e mail you off line for your help, but I will have to wait as a friend of mine who installed my new web cam has gone home to the UK so I will e mail him and ask him exactly what went wrong and why it didn't let him download it. thanks for all your help, I know you have been a great help to a lot of forum members regarding the Internet etc. I hope this can be sorted out without all the fuss of taking this back.

The only other issue with XP and driver compatibility that I know of is that you need to make sure that you have installed and are running the latest Microsoft service pack. Any product that you buy that is supposed to be compatible with Windows XP should also tell you which service pack you should have installed. This is indicated on the box as SP1/2 or 3.
