This is probably down to the size of the document.

A big problem with Word is that it is great at bloating stuff. If you created a document and copy pictures into it without resizing first, you will end up with a doc you cannot open.

Example: You have 10 pictures that have been taken on a digital camera and each one is 1.5Mb in size. The pictures are bigger than you require in the document but you copy them in and just resize in Word, you have still ended up with 15mb of graphics plus all the other junk word adds.

The answer is to make a copy of the graphic. Resize in a graphics program and save it. Then import that into Word. Using the example above the 10 pics would probably only take up 2Mb at most.

So best to check what size the Word doc you are trying to open is.
