Dee You are not Psychic are you ? On a closed thread you actually had the gall to tell me " I didn't support the right for any Country to defend itself, simply that I supported the right of Israel to bomb Palestinians out of existence" You have come up with yet another load of crap and in future please do not deign to tell me what I do or do not support just because you are losing an argument and cannot post sensible and logical threads. It is rubbish like this that is making sensible people turn away from this Forum so please take note

Gibson, it's also posts like yours that are driving people away. Why do you deem it necessary to post a new topic just to make some comments to one person with whom you have a differing opinion? Couldn't you just have let it go. - for the sake of the forum. By the way, I too did not agree with the comments made by deecyprus, but I chose not to respond.

Well said Gibson. The sooner self opinionated, bias,if you don't share my views, idiots get off this forum the better.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 19. Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

Doyen I am afraid I totally disagree with you here. If someone wishes to post insulting remarks I feel I have every right to respond and this does not drive people away as you seem to think. Read the post from Ossie!!! If people cannot carry out a Forum without recoursing to insults they should not bother participating. If this type of post drives people away then why are you posting on it if as you say you would rather "walk away from it"?

I think the main difference is that Ozzies post was not person specific, so is opinion, not an insult.

I must say that this one of the more "placid" forums I have visited, and I was very surprised that some of the threads regarding Israel have been closed!! Amongst so many differing views, by our very own "human" nature, sometimes personal things are said in the heat of the moment. I think some here are just a little over-sensitive? After all, when one starts name calling surely their argument is then lost anyway? And for everyone else, a lively and passionate discussion closed to one and all!! A quote, attributed to Voltaire sums it up: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" And the answer? Just show a little respect to one another!!!

Doyen I was under the impression that one of the reasons for this Forum was to debate subjects rationally. If certain people cannot do this without recourse to insulting everyone who disagree with their view, then they have to expect that those same people are going to defend themselves otherwise what is the point of even having a Forum? I have no desire to get into a slanging match with anyone but at the same time I will also stand up for myself against anybody as that is my right. Should that right ever be taken away then I would cease being a member

Brian message 5, Article 19 of the human rights act is quite correct, what you forget to mention is that freedom of speech and opinion must be appropriate and within the bounds of decency, free from the potential to cause offence or incite violence. If you think that this applies to some posters on this board i.e. the anti-semitic filth that is posted by D4Cyprus Then you to my friend with respect, have lost the plot...............

BPF You are correct, but not enough room to post the full Art. Post is meant to show that we are all allowed to have free speech, opinion etc without hinderence, and the closing of a non-too radical thread potentially compromised that.
