Lawyers’ List



The British High Commission publishes a list of lawyers who are able to give advice in English to British nationals for the convenience of enquirers. The list is available on the High Commission's website and is e-mailed or posted to British nationals on request. The list includes a number of lawyers in each town on the island to give some freedom of choice, but not so many that the enquirer has difficulty in choosing a practitioner. The High Commission never recommends a particular lawyer in order to maintain complete impartiality.



When telephoning from abroad, a 00 90 392 prefix code should be used.

Lawyers in North Cyprus ask for fees in advance because their clients mostly live aboard so getting payment after the work has been carried out is difficult or some times impossible



Check out your lawyer well in advance, check they are qualified, take advice from home buyers groups or similar



It can take two years to get your permission and allot longer if your lawyer doesn’t chase the procedure as the approving authorities look for any reason to stall the process and here is the goo bit…. They don’t let you or your lawyers know they just put your file on the waiting for information pile where it sit forever …. So unless your lawyer chasses up your permission on a regular basis you may never receive it
