Electric Help needed

Lost all our power tonight.

Main breaker will not stay on, tried isolating all trip switches

but nothing.

Need an electrician, can anybody recommend one.

We live in Girne.

Jardap,

It is a fault to earth, thus tripping all switches does not help much. Do the following:

1. Unplug all appliances and I mean "unplug" and not just switch them off. If the fault has not gone go to the next step.



2. Isolate the immersion heater. This can be done by disconnecting the live and neutral on the immersion switch.



3. Have you changed any sockets recently? If you did take it out and test the system before screwing it back to the wall. Probably the neutral is touching the screw holding the socket on the wall.



If the above does not give good fresults then you really need an electrician who hs to isolate each circuit and test for an earth fault.
