Hi all !



Just saw a rule ( highlighted by AndyP) saying we ( in the REAL world) cannot question the validity of "TRNC"....



.. you know - along with the UN, ECHR, EU, UK foreign and commonwealth office web site, etc, etc....



Never expected to be "popular" for posting what we all know is a fact...



I adore Cyprus, and don't have a problem with anyone's ethnicity or viewpoint... I can't think of a "GC" board that has a rule banning TCs from mentioning "TRNC"...





I just contacted Pikey ( as I noticed he'd gone quiet ) and found he had be "banned" for " falling foul " of this "rule"..



Guys, it is possible to discuss world affairs without trying to control the subject..



If you want ban me, too. I don't think it is possible to discuss many aspects of Cyprus without mentioning what we all know ( rightly or wrongly) is the current status of the "area of CY under TR control."



I will respect whatever decison you make, and wish you good luck!

Keep posting Mark as it's been good to have you back. I personally don't have a problem with anyone debating the validity of the existence of the TRNC, as long it is recognised that there has been such a place in existence for very many years now even though it may only be recognised by Turkey.

If MM goes for stating things as he interprets them (and many others too), or UN/EU etc printed media, will be the end of free speech, and I think perhaps all should go.

Remember, this guy is not anti Cyprus, and not anti TC



Mark you should stay, one caveat, if NC ever gets world recognision as a seperate state, you (and you good lady wife too of course) must come and join the party with the other board members.

And as an optiopnal, if my title deeds are ever internationally recognised, you come to the party at our house too.

I agree that this rule is somewhat difficult to comprehend on a democratic forum.



Thre are clearly many members that support and accept the status of the TRNC as the governing force in the North of Cyprus. The TRNC is therefore recognised.

On the other hand some members clearly do not support the status of TRNC and therefore is not recognised by these people.



It is nevertheless the case that the de-facto exhistance is accepted by the world. It is only a matter of time for EU membership and international acceptance. This will,without doubt prolong the current peace and allow the Island to progress to new and beneficial heights.

Ok, So:



1/ I'm def not Pike ... amusing that someone could think otherwise and I guess a "compliment", as only one of us, directly, earns a crust for how/ what we write ;)



2/ No.. not looking for "friends or attention seeking" ....(DUH) like this would be the place ! .. I believe my point was/is valid, as presumably anybody mentioning UN resolutions, UK Foreign and Commonwealth official Cyprus policy, ECHR rulings that mention "TRNC" are treading a very thin line...

It would be unfortunate if Private Pike and indeed mmmmm were to leave the forum. Their views are interesting to read.

However mmmmmmm does show a very cear legal stance that follows the international position upon the TRNC. P P shows a clear alignment with GC, though his knowledge upon Cypriot History is always of interest.



What is clear about both these members. They too can be excluded from this international forum in much the same way that the TRNC is excluded from the international political forum.



Furthermore, both members have to date shown a complete inability to provide ideas or comments upon a solution to the Cypriot problem. It is this inability that has led to an inordinate level of unpopularity.



It is surely in everyones interest to work towards a solution. I am sure both members could provide us with some ideas worth discussion.

I support you in retaining your membership, I think that your postings have matured a lot over the years (I don't want to be patronizing but that was the easiest way of expressing my feelings about your postings, hope you understand) but I must add that John appeared to have lost the plot with some of his last postings insinuating that thugs employed by the TRNC government were infiltrating this board and deleting threads/messages that were deemed anti TRNC.

Just in case you don't know I was very critical of the now deceased "rump" RoC President and very pro Annan.



I really appreciate that TCs should have a real say in how things are run, or at least autonomy, but if you really think "TRNC" leaders are free of Turkish policy influence and able to formulate progressive plans to progress, then you are either naive or not as on the pulse as I'd given you some credit..
