For anyone who lives here, wherever/whoever you buy your a/c from, go for inverter driven units unless you want big electricity bills.

we got ours direct from beko. they have been great and when one developed a problem they were here the next day to fix it. they were also the cheapest to buy from.

TRNCVaughan..message 10, you wrote: For anyone who lives here, wherever/whoever you buy your a/c from, go for inverter driven units unless you want big electricity bills. Which a/c units are inverter driven units and what sort of inverter are you referring to? thanks

At the moment the only inverter driven a/c units readily available in TRNC are Japanese. We supply units like Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric and Daikin These are not supplied by the likes of Beko or Arcelik who I do not consider to be "serious" a/c companies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverter_(air_conditioning) "Inverter-based air conditioners have their strengths in environments where part load is common as they are significantly more efficient than conventional air conditioners in these situations. For most households inverters are the preferred option as part load is the common mode there. The higher initial expense is balanced by lower energy bills. In a typical setting the pay-back time is about two years. Therefore, it depends on usage what type will be better. In any case though, it pays to buy an energy efficient model, i.e. one with a high SEER, EER or HSPF factor and at least an EnergyStar certified product, as this will significantly reduce your electricity bill."

Inverter a/c, cont: If you only use your property for holidays the payback period will be considerably longer than 2 years. However, for people living here the payback will become apparent from day 1. You should be prepared to pay about 3 times as much for Japanese inverter a/c as you will for Chinese non-inverter from the likes of Beko, etc. Finally, the ozone depleting refrigerant R22 is still used in most Chinese a/c whereas the Japanese moved on to eco-friendly R407c and R410a some time ago.

i mean iam really no supporter of airconditioning.... but can i add my name to the Vaughhan approvals? i am close to make a deal with everybody here: i install a arcelik or beko or chinese aircondi for free as long you run the aircodi for at least 1000 hrs a year. i will connect a kW/h counter. you pay the normal electricity bill (for airconditioning highest rate at the moment 0,60 TL)and you pay me also 0,60 TL for each kW/h until the unit is broken. service included from me (of course, every hour the unit runs is my profit). why i suggest it? everybody only seem to be interestes to buy as chaep as possible. an inverter driven a/c uses only half the energy, nobody cares. so, you might get the a/c for free, but pay double electric bill. seems to be ok for you. please please apply.... (investors welcomed)
