When does it happen you turn all nasty, use rude words, insult other people, then leave the board in a paddy because you don't get your own way?? I've only been here 4months,still love the island and always will. Is it a timing thing?Been here a year, don't like it?Want to go back to dear old Wonderful uk,everythings green and grassy there?...oooh nearly replied with "bo***cks".Maybe I'm changing too.!!! For those that do not like this Island,it's people,it's culture, stop moaning!!!YOU are the problem, not this island.Stop moaning about Kibtek, they have performed miracles in the past few years.....just stop moaning.and if you can't do that, just SHUT UP and let the vast majority that like it here, enjoy our lives

Hear hear Miklapta, hear hear. We agree, life is a hundred times better here than in UK and we have been here for over 4 years now. Wouldn't go back if we had a shotgun at our heads.

Spent yesterday morning going from Belidysie to telephone company and finally to Kibtec for a 40 minute wait/ All done by 12 noon then spent a most enjoyable afternoon in the warm sunshine with some lovely food, fine wine and excellent company! Back in the UK I'd have probably spent hours on hold with BT or some other 'jobsworh company' then had to settle for the lighs on all day and central heating up full. Or I may have had to scrape the ice off the car window and drive through sleet & snow to the shops to be met with grumpy, scowling checkout people. I know where I prefer to be - NO CONTEST!! My only regret is I didn't get here 10 years ago! Maggie

Hi Michael I agree with you, I have just come back from my first trip back to the UK since arriving here 4 years ago, and it will be a long time before I ever return there, its not just the weather (although it was cold) it was peoples reaction to the system and they are the people who just sit there and don't do a thing about it, this is the best decision I have made (except for having my children) in re-locating to the TRNC and I wouldn't go back if I was offered a house etc. you could'nt pay me to live there now. So for all the moaners out there do something about it or take a long good look and think of all the good things here, if not return home. Smithy

I am so pleased to read these positive posts. We have bought an apartment in Ozankoy and are coming over March 19th to make our decision as to whether to come for a few years or longer. Reading these positive posts encourages me greatly, the negative ones as you say just put folk off, and perhaps there really is no need for it. I have thought whilst reading that some of the negative writers need to come back here for a while, it really is all doom and gloom every half hour on the news, in the papers and everyone looks so miserable. I am certainly optimistic that our life will be changed in the four months coming up. Look forward to meeting up with some of you positive thinkers!!!! Thanks again

You guys living in the TRNC are lucky you could be here in the uk getting screwed from all angles and working hard to keep those who shouldn't be in the uk! For all those who moan about the TRNC you should shut up, pack up, and return to dear old blighty where its TAX TAX TAX ! Still fancy it? no i didn't think so............

All of the crying about the TRNC!!!!!!!!! Am currently working on a new house for a friend of mine, it is in the countryside, have just had a quote from NIE ( the electric company) to run a supply to the house, approx 180yds. £13,500!!!!!!!! Has also just been told that the water supply pipe is too small and awaiting a quote from the water company, no doubt will have to pick him up from the floor when that arrives. Rip off Britian/ Mike.

Spoke to two old gents in the Pia Bella in November - they've been coming over to the hotel for 16 years and the TRNC for over 20 years, and wouldn't go anywhere else. They dont like the rip off south or Spain(their words, not mine),and enjoyed the locals for their friendliness - I just hope it doesn't get anywhere like the UK is now ,as the decline saddens me. regards,Steve

we own a villa on the island and cant wait to move out permanently. it makes a change to have some positive threads on this board. We have family in spain they have lived there 4 years still on temp electricity and water tanker and no title deeds as the builder has done a runner but you dont read about it. the problem with trnc forums is to many peeople talking the island down and while this negative attitude continues we will all suffer. the whole world is being affected by the credit crunch and it is now time for villa owners etc to hold there nerve and i predict that when the worst is over those of us that have stayed will be on a winner. so come on people lets have some more of these positive threads and promote and support the good points of the island of which as previously stated are many. so finally to all the knockers and moaners we say give it a rest as you are shooting us all in the foot by repeated bad comments and rumours

Nice to see something positive for a change - I am lucky my customers for the TRNC and UK like the place and are happy to go or live there. The Med., Africa and Arabia are very different in all ways and if you want to visit or stay there you need to take on/understand their ways. Cheers Mike for being so upbeat it is refreshing. I spend a large amount time trying to be and to get others there too. Yes we all have some problems no matter where we are, who we are and need to get on living with them etc etc.

mike i think the reality comes when you live here full time. people who have a holiday home here just don't see the realities. when you can get past that your home and dry.

Whooppee, Thank god for sanity. Positive thread for once.... I just can't wait to get my place finished, so that we can set up the place from scratch. It will be like a new start, everything here in the UK is so depressing. Can't wait to get in....... Mc

Dear littlenige, the 2 old boys were staying until at least Christmas, and maybe longer - they were fed up with wet, cold, overpriced UK,with its lousy immigration policies, crime ,etc etc. I think they were with a chap from Padiham, the day after;who I think lives in Cyprus. Reminded me of old colonels - hope to me them agan sometime - very interesting conversationalists ,regards,Steve
