I'm selling here. Only because we want a smaller home. No other reason.

Im not selling bought property number 4 last month, lots of worry at present credit crunch etc. also a lot of rubbish and scaremongering being posted but everyone is entitled to their say. The market will improve and those with a little bottle and positivity will prevail in the end, its still the jewel of the med in terms of investment opportunity.........

Msg 4 last sentence. I've only ever heard estate agents saying that. The reality is that as well as criminals North Cyprus mostly attracts people on very limited budgets.

Good on you OLDGIRL. I haven't been to Malta since 1974. Has it changed much do you think?

The place with the lowest crime rate is The Yemen, it has the lowest crime rate per capita, with 1.16109 per 1,000 people. In a table of 65 countries, the UK is 6th highest and the US is 8th, with Japan at 34th.

I have a property for sale, but not the one I live in. Just need a bit of cash that's all. I live here permanently, wouldn't go back to UK to live.

Think the thing that holds the TRNC back is secrecy - nobody has heard of it,for many reasons. It does seem to remind me of Spain in the early 1970's though, regards,Steve

hi lilli my sister in law and hubby live in gzira in malta.

they have lots of issues about living there as well.

like unless your maltese you cannot rent out your property, legally.

even though they are now part of the e.u.

Hi Bill - by coincidence, the last time I visited Malta was either '74 or '75. Stayed at St Paul's Bay. It was a very quiet area then. I loved it and visited 4 times. Bet we'd see some changes now!

Malta.

Horrible place, went there in the mid 80's stayed in Buggiba, couldn't wait to get home. I remember walking along the promenade one evening, there was a place called the Bognor Regis Beach Club, everyone sat playing Bingo, I couldn't resist shouting 'House' as I walked by. Took a bus to Valetta, found it dirty and smelly.

TRNC for me!

And no, I am not selling, can't wait to spend more time over there.

While on the subject of Malta, my sister an brother in law went last year, they also hated the place. Went on a guided tour of the island, every attraction they visited was introduced by 'this is ........ it was heavily bombed in the war'

horrible horrible place

Our house is for sale, sadly. We love it here in TRNC but our jobs are being re-located and so we are re-locating with them, as we are not in a position financially to stay here without jobs.

Dear Cypfan - partly,

examples being -

bad drivers,unmade roads,low crime,poor street lighting,not ripping off at every excuse(just yet)

Red tape rules everywhere, and has gone worse

I first went to Spain in 1967,and dictatorship ruled. Last time about 1978 when it went more like UK. Friends confirm the changes. Guess we are about 1972/3 in that timefame - your observations mate?regards,Steve

I will never sell my pad and they (who ever they might be) would have to drag me off of this island kicking and screaming.

Happy New Year all

Just put our place on the market due to work related issues in the UK which was the final straw for us. We are also fed up with the complete lack of progress being made by the TRNC Government reference the house purchase system here which is a complete rip off and one that the country as a whole should be ashamed of.

I read in Wednesday's Daily Express that Cyprus is going to fair very well from the Global recession, Yes it may be referring to the South but it could stilll have a knock on effect in the North so weather the storm I say and things can only get better.

No1Doyen: The Lions were 5 points clear of the 3rd place team when I visited TRNC for the New Year, I get back to England and they are in 3rd place & 5 points behind the team in 2nd place. I blame Talat
