British pop star Dave Dee has died at the age of 65, following a three-year battle with cancer. The singer continued playing gigs with band members Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich until close to the end of his life, record plugger Sean Cooney said. The group had eight top 10 hits, including a UK number one single in 1968 with The Legend of Xanadu, in which Dee famously cracked a whip. A spokeswoman for the family said that Dee died in Kingston Hospital, south-west London on Friday morning following "a long and courageous battle" with cancer. Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich - named after the five friends' nicknames - first entered the UK chart in December 1965 with You Make it Move, which peaked at number 26.

Coachie- I don't know how he finished up with so little money. Dave Clark made sure the each owned equal rights to there songs, right from the early days. Dave Clark was also the bands manager again right from the start because he wanted to make sure they were not ripped off by dodgy managers. Paul

It was in the one of the cyprus papers.Ionly stumbled across it when some one put link on the thread about something else.On the right hand side of the page were all these other items and when I clicked on ,it was about the DC5 band and that there lead singer had died and it actuall quoted how much he had left in his will, I therefore thought that after selling 6million records they must have been ripped off by some one and as was the case during the 60,s it was normally there manager/record company who did it...
