With the revised laws supposodly being introduced this month it will be impossible to get a work permit for this type of work.

If you are intending to move here to live and need to work legally then in my opinion you will find it a major problem.

Try the other side for work, if you can find it. Speaking Greek and/or Turkish is a major advantage.

Basically

if yo want to work here you will not be welcomed, suggest you find another country that will be more welconing. This place has changed beyond recognisation, it does not welcome immigrants unless you have loads of money to throw at the government.

Jo&Wal,

The information above is pretty accurate.

Bottom line in NC is you ideally should be totally self sufficient regarding income, i.e. from pension/savings and bank interest etc, working to 'earn a living' is very difficult, though quite a few entrepreneurial people do quite well I am sure.

Setting up of business is hindered to the point of prevention for all but the most ambitious or determined (or fool hardy), and chances are like many business' here the venture would fail in the first year.

Bottom line is, if you 'need' to work, better to investigate other options.

Probably not what you want to hear, but better informed.

So, WHAT is to stop a "northie" working the the "rump" RoC .. as an EU citizen you can become self-employed, pay a RoC nat ins stamp and live in the "north"

I've asked this Q before, but if you are paying tax and nat ins in the "rump" RoC how do TCs who work in the "south" get taxed ?
