There is a very large contingent of the Turkish army there, it is inland and someway from Girne. It is a pleasant village and under the Annan plan was one of the places that was going to be handed back to the GC's. To my knowledge there are a few expats living there and I do mean just a few. It is really an out of the way place, I would imagine it is quite a pleasant place to live. I would say it is a typical Turkish cypriot village.

TonyH, Others will know better than me, but I believe if you are thinking of buying, be careful, if there is a large contingent of army, it could cause a problem with the permision to purchase cirtificate. regards grahamlil

TonyH "I'm at the 'reading up' stage at the moment, we won't visit until March next year so probably asking 'daft' questions at the moment but this Forum is terrific for info. " I'm at exactly the same stage as you, and feel equally 'daft' asking certain questions, but the great thing about this forum is that you get very positive, helpful replies, and therefore don't need to feel daft at all!

Hi all, I have a question, are the new sites being built with better quality drainage, "larger pipes" will you be able to put the paper down the loo, are they putting digestors on site so the mains will cope? regards grahamlil P.s. I know this has sort of been asked and answered before.

To my knowledge there are only mains in very few places, in the vast majority of cases the properties will have cesspits. It is a debable point as to whether you put paper down the loo, we don't.

Camlibel is an un spoilt typical Cypriot village, well away from the usual tourist tracks, and mercifully free from contemporary trappings. Set 825ft above sea level it enjoys a most pleasant climate with beautiful air and little humidity. The surrounding area is wooded with rich soil and sustains the market-garden farming community whose Turkish-Cypriot members are most friendly and who welcome visitors into their way of life.

Sorry to get lavatorial again, but I understand if you have your septic tank or cespit ('well' as they call them over here) built with smooth rendered sides, you can flush the paper because it doesn't get stuck to the sides.
