I have outside my apt a trail of ants which seem to be around a thousand or so, no matter whatever I try nothing seems to make them disappear for long, there is no food etc on the floor, I have tried boiling water with bleach in, powder etc but everyday there seems more, would appreciate any feedback as they appear to be on a mission of now trailing up where the A/C pipe which takes the drips hangs down, please help.

Smithy, i had a problem with ants earlier in the year and got some ant bait from Supreme supermarket, it comes in little plastic squares and is really good, the ants eat it, take it back to the nest and it kills the nest. You will find it where the insect and fly repellents are, hope this helps

I have blocked the pipe off, but they are all along the ground in mounds hundreds of them in each and trailing along to another big mound, when I was near the pipe they were nipping me, there has to be something stronger to get rid of them.

Ants are often a problem, try putting a speaker close by where the are, and play a Kagagoogoo CD, will usually scare off most things.

And remember 'don't tread on an ant, he's done nothing to you' as Adam, a close relative of theirs, sung in the early 80's

Tea bags and or sliced cucumber. Works sometimes. That's the green way.

Or spray the area with the wet "kills roaches" sprays that are available. Not nice but works.

Sometimes you just got to live with 'em. They kinda come with the territory.

So long as they are not in your food they may just move on of their own accord.

hi Smithy, yes they sound like the ones i used. I had them all over the door and around the fridge, but after a few days i had none at all and i have been ant free ever since. Maybe a bit of overkill but i still put one of the tablets down every couple of months just to keep the little sods away. Wishing you well, Geoff.

Thanks Geoff, I have watched them running all over the top of them, maybe they think its gymnastics but hopefully they will disappear.

Well proven to work, sprinkle Ajax scouring powder, they refuse to cross the line.

Has worked great for all I suggested it to.

Good luck.

And as they walk back to the nest, give the floor a good old clean as well.

Has anyone tried the electric plug in pest repellents?

We have one in our apt. they also work. We sat on the patio in summer watching ants wander around, and as they reached the door, mysteriously turned back and didn't venture indoors.

They also work against spiders, cockroaches and other annoying pests. I've got 2 for when the sister in law visits.

STman good to know, I always wondered if those things actually work.

Which one do yo have, I beleive their are at least two types that I am aware of;

one that emits a high frequency,

and another that sends out pulses (or something like that)through the wiring of the home which supposedly scares them away.

We have a couple of those high frequency pest repellents around the house, and I also have one in the shed.

Little or no sign of insects around the house ever, and keeps mice etc from the shed. Only thing I ever see in the shed are a couple of harmless lizards.

Brought a pig home the other day, (with Ants on it, to stay on topic).

Missus said "what about the smell?"

I said "the pig will just have to get used to it".

Geoff

I put those little blue squares round yesterday but they seem to be running over them and not nibbling at them and disappearing, still there in the thousands. As its not directly outside my apt its by the pillars where you park, but would still like to get rid of them, when you park up they are round your feet, and they bite. Going to leave them with the squares for a day or two and see what happens if not more drastic measures must be taken

Smithy

You must have some "nasty" stuff on the shelves or "behind" the counter at work.

If not, a small run of Vaseline around any potential entry points will deter the little buggers.

Sir Skogs

Its not inside my apt, its outside along the pillars where you park the cars, so there is no food about they seem to be inside the drip pipe which comes from the A/C unit, if I touch the pipe thousands come out they seem to be everywhere, I would panic if they were inside, but still I want rid of these pests.

Many thanks for your info, appreciate any help

Hi smithy, it takes a few days for the bait to work, i thought at first that the ants were not taking it, but after a few days the number went down drastically and a few days later there were none at all, just give it a few days i'm sure it will work, as i said it did for me.

Thanks Geoff, I will leave it alone for the next few days and see what happens.

and Sir Skog I only touched the pipe to see if I could fold it up so they would leave it alone, but as I said they came out in their thousands, so leaving well alone for the time being.
