A little Fire Extinguisher for the house would be a good idea.

The car parts shops have them.

Are there any "experts" on here that know about these things? Like what would be the best choice? Powder, Foam, Gas. Water.

Cheers fellow forumeers.

Hurry up. It's getting hot in here.........Only messing. Bloody freezin'.

Tried to find an appropriate extinguisher in the north with copes with both electrical and petrol fires simultaneously (ie if your petrol generator catches fire and torches your electrics) but no joy.

Any ideas?

Message 4.

In the event of an electrical/petrol fire, as you describe, you would need to turn off your electrics and treat the fire as purely a petrol fire. Use a foam extinguisher.

Paul (retired fireman)

PS Hope it never comes to this of course.

Hi Skogsy,

The best to use for everything is powder but the only prob is with it, it will damage what ever you use it on such as a engine, but it will put out anything water is a prob because if you have electrical fire you know what will happen and also cannot be used on fats because it will float, co2 is ok but tends to blow everything about and if you hold the horn in the wrong place it will freeze your hand to it, and foam is more for chemical fires.

Also try this link to put your mind at rest.

Thanks.

Maybe - thanks for the vote of confidence. Mind you, when I worked in the London Fire Brigade, we just tended to flood everything and hope for the best!

get yourself a hosepipe then - that said, with the price of the water over here, it would probably be cheaper to let the place burn down...
