A dog died on my doorstep at 11.30 at night, what time did these other deaths occur?

It breaks my heart to think what these poor animals have to go through before they actually die.

Do these monsters that keep putting the poison down understand how some people feel about their pets how the children love their pet and the devastating effects it has on some people when they know how their beloved pet has been killed.

I understand that not everyone is a pet lover and this I respect but for gods sake even if you hate animals just remember that this could be someone's only companion some child's best friend.

And also remember they Do feel pain they Do suffer and they also Do have feelings unlike quite a lot of humans.

Its about time that people made a stand and got something done about this brutal and callous behavior there are more humane ways to put an animal to sleep.

What is the reasoning for all these dogs being poisened? Is it just that some maniac does'nt like dogs?

I have no idea why they are doing this. My friends dog was a much loved pet, did not harm anyone or anything, so why they can come into the garden and leave poison for him ??????? !!!!!!!

Let me start by stating that I love dogs & am totally against the poisoning of animals. Having said that, the number of dogs wandering about the roads here is sooo dangerous. Several times in just the last few days I have had to brake/swerve to avoid them. I notice most of these 'stray' dogs have collars on and certainly don't look wild or underfed. Could it be that they are just allowed to roam free all day while their owners are out? If you are a dog owner please ensure that your much loved pet is kept securely inside your property when you go out to work/shopping etc. Maybe the poisoner is an irate motorist who has had one too many 'near misses'.

I know it's been said before but the sooner we have a Dog Warden and a dog pound here the better!

M&G. I've had a couple of near misses also. Had to swerve to avoid hitting a dog and we had the grandchildren in the back of the car. Could have been a nasty accident.

I agree with the Dog Warden/Pound.

Maggie & Bernie.

Good points.

In that scenario it is the fault of the dog owner not the dog. There are, however, many dogs here that have been abandoned. Again, down to the owners.

In either case, the scum bags who are laying down the poison have neither the right nor justification for their acts. Now, if they poisoned the owners? (just joking!)

Chessman I agree with what you say in part, the dogs on this island are either allowed to roam freely or are tied to a tree without food or water and in some cases with no shelter...I would love to reciprocate and tie some of these owner up in same conditions...but I am not joking.

Just a thought, and reading Ambers posts, if these poisoners are coming into people's gardens and putting down poisoned meat for the purpose of killing the householder's pets, surely this is tresspass, which, as I understand in TRNC is a criminal offence. The only way to stop this, and to catch the perpetrators (and to have the evidence) is to fit a CCTV camera which can be focused to cover a wide angle. In Aldi's this week CCTV cameras are £19.99. Maybe residents can get a CCTV camera sent out to the UK via DHL, or know someone who can bring one out? Aldi's are opening a branch in the Roc, but I don't know when, or whether they will stock this type of item. It is only with the evidence that the police will act. Get them the evidence and then they will have no choice but to deal with this sickening crime.

W26kay, they don't have to come in, they can just chuck a piece of poisoned meat over the fence. So be warned if you think a locked gate can stop them.

Best thing for now I guess would be to put a soft muzzle on your pets when they are out of the house, even in your yard.

OK Turbo point taken, but the CCTV has a wide range of cover and can be set according to requirements. Also, PIR lights would be a deterent to any "would be poisoner". Just trying to think of ways people can protect their pets, and catch the perpetrator.

Good idea, kay, anything to catch these murderers, if you have a pc with webcam already all you have to do is point it in the direction an set it to record.

Fantastic Turbo, now we are rocking.

Good thinking. Many people will already have a webcam they can put to good use for this purpose.

I am not very technical BTW.

Good on you Dee. I am with you on that. If I knew who did this I would not hesitate in causing them the same pain they have inflicted on these defenceless animals. I know you are not a fan of KAR, but would you inform them of the poisonings that have happened near you, so they can put it on their site?? Just want more people to be aware so they can keep their animals safe.

Frontalman- that is the same night my friends dog was killed.

From main road turn left, road signed Karsiyaka, follow road to the top, then turn right. Its along there. I think the school is near there. I have friends who live there. Be very careful with your dogs.

I know, I informed KAR and also started a posting on this. Dee does not live in Karsiyaka - she is in another village where other cases of poisoning have happened in the last few days.
