Had many holidays in NC going back many years so have seen lots of changes, but somehow still seem to feel at home and love the place and also know a few folk although mostly locals. Would you recommend it for a lady who wants a change come retirement in a year or so? Not much to stay in the UK for and cannot help thinking that I would have a better social network in NC and a more relaxed way of life. Anybody else out there have done the same? Would be interested to hear!

Hi sandie,I suddenly had enough of being a workaholic in UK Sept last year,and escaped with what I could bring.What I did not expect was lack of ladies for date,coffee meal etc.

However hopefully you will come and we can start a friendship society and maybe more

I moved here permanently last April - go back to UK every 2-3 months and have family and friends out to stay. Have made some wonderful friends here and you can be as active or as idle as you wish. As a widow living on my own I feel very safe here and I am lucky enough to have really nice neighbours. I have been visiting Northern Cyprus for 13 years but if you do not know the place well then I would recommend renting somewhere until you decide where you want to buy. There are downsides to living here (like everywhere) and one of the worst are the expensive airfares. But give it a go or you'll probably always wish you had!

Hope to be out later in the year for a holiday to see how things are in NC. Such a big step but I am still a young 58 year old so what the heck! I would probably just rent someone small at first to see how things go and with lots of positive feedback on the forum sounds worth a try. Take care

Oh Dear! Apologies to the big guys. I meant some where small in the property stakes! Have always stayed East of Girne (Bellapais, Ozankoy or Catalkoy, so am not as familiar with the West. Is there much of a social network East of Girne?

I am sure Mike is fine and I would never pass judgement until I have met a person. All the positive feedback from you folk already living in NC makes me more and more confident about giving living on the Island a go, although this would not be possible until 2010, but will continue having holidays in the meantime, and time soon flies by when you are a certain age.

Seriously, it sounds as if you really enjoying living in North Cyprus and have made a lot of good friends.
