I thought they used urine as a bleach in the middle ages - later in about 1790's ships used to take the urine in barrels as part of the chemical industry - I understand thats where the term comes from.Just an intellectual thought lads and lasses.regards.Steve

Steve. Newcastle was very big as an exporter of urine. Because of the ammonia it was used to make dye. Collecting it must have been interesting!

maybemike - I saw a programme with Adam Hart Davies - I understand pubs used to collect the urine in barrels and sell it on - must be wearing gas masks in summer..hence the slang term.Steve

I heard AJ resigned as a moderator. But he wished to moderate secretly as he did before. He wanted his moderators tag taken away to hide this. However it is impossible to remove. I was told he has moderated me since his mock resignation.

Not my words. Just passing on what I was emailed. Scared to make direct accusations as I will be banned.

Skogsy. I loved this one..Urine is an excellent preventive/cure for athlete’s foot. It is also helpful for “jock itch.”
