What happenned to the banter, and joy of life?



Where are all the most interesting posters going?



Nigels board, Where patter is respected and where personal insults are effectively moderated.



I am a Cyprus 44 board man myself, and I believe in loyalty.



Why do moderators allow Deecyprus4 to insult honourable members, with unbalanced remarks,devoid of fact. Why is she allowed to make.....and I speak adviseadly, foul

mouthed, and wholly unbalanced remarks. Any self respecting board would ban the damned woman for life.





Now I have never asked for a fellow member to be banned from the board. Argue the subject matter, and not the poster, within the board rules.



Izzet did not have to appoint hosts of moderators, to sort this board out! Just enforce the

debate the subject, not the poster rule.



Your board is failing. We have told you the cure, your call!

Wyn, with all due respect, the moderators have been moderating posts, deleting insults, closing threads, and then being treated like we are part of some conspiracy theory.



Unfortunately, life is like that - there will always be people who wish to cause trouble and stir up emotions. As I have said before, if there is someone who you think is posting to upset you personally, or is posting to intentionally upset people - ignore them, that way the personal insults and abuse do become a problem, because they do not have an audience.



Again, if anybody has any constructive suggestions for Izzet as to how this board can be made a better place, please email him - offboard.

I'm afraid the popularity of board and subcequent growth in numbers, coupled with poor security, thus allowing objectional activists, scamers and advertising to take a stranglehold , is killing interest and could lead to eventual demise of the forum.

Which will be a shame, I for one have enjoyed reading and posting during the last two years.

I'm also supporting Wyn on this. Groucho and PP are good posters on this forum, whether you agree with them or not.I know that PP is now back posting on the forum but I don't think Groucho is.

The way I see it is that everyone has a point of view that more than often is going to conflict with someone else's view.You then get a situation where the discussion gets heated and then the personal stuff starts. Clearly you have a choice at this point, get out of the discussion or carry on and all he'll let's loose. Sometimes though someone will make a 'snide' one line remark and then sign out or refuse to get involved with the person the remark was made to. It is these posters that are ruining the forum.

Security is vital and steps have recently been made towards this goal, and if managed effectivly will stop majority of abuse. However to further this aim Izzet may need to limit nicknames to one per member and check identities by e -mail verification . Not an expert but I,m sure there are many effective measures that could be adopted.

If your genuine why hide your email address? ( 'bit tongue in cheek' I relise there could be reasons, but hiding should be agreed by Izzet.

Agree with you Wyn if there are any 'au fait' specialist members in this field out there , they should let Izzet know , so he may consider their suggestions.

It used to be part of my daily routine to log on and see what is going on, whether it be humerous or on the serious subjects.

Almost every thread I read now has 'post deleted' for one reason or another.

Im an in total agreement with moderating the forum, but come on folks it's got a bid beyond a joke now, it isn't possible to post anything without the fear of upsetting someone, or going beyond the subject of the thread. The deletions are getting rather out of hand, and petty.

We are surely all adult enough to take a bit of a joke but I for one do not like the censorship being applied.

I have to say that I feel that these type of threads make this forum full of doom and gloom and actually encourage other posters to be defensive.



Over the last week I thought there had been some good debate and discussion regarding the future of the island and current problems with living and buying in the TRNC. I had observed lots of sharing of information and pleasant banter.



Can I ask why posters can't simply ignore other posters that are obviously "wind up merchants" The posts written by such people often say more about them than the person it is often directed at!



Amazing. A very negative thread which will no doubt drift into the hundreds.

Yet it is the members that have the power to change it.

I to am with Wyn, this board is currently in a drastic state and has deteriorated beyond recognition, this in my opinion has worsened since the introduction of so many moderators.

This not an attack on Mods, just my own personal observation.

Did not the Morals, Humour and fairmindness of the majority of posters self moderate the board, were not those that got out of order put in their place by the sane and balanced.

I am, should I digress, insult, swear etc, much more likely to see the errors of my way by the response of the majority of posters than the knee jerk reaction of many moderators,

Let human nature, humour, and banter take its course, and only when it is obviously getting out of control then moderate.

What is happening on here is no different to what happens on hundreds of other forums/messageboards/chatrooms across the internet.

It has probably been a victim of its own success.

The rising member numbers and the inevitable fragmentation and splitting into cliques...particularly amongst those who have actually met in real life off the board....creates its own problems and friction.



There is room in the world for many Cyprus forums.....but please be in no doubt that the sometime problems we have on here will definitely be repeated on others such as Nige's with the passing of time and an increase in members.

People cannot be "friendly" with each other ALL the time.

We are all different people with differing opinions....live and let live...and let common sense prevail.

It was the first post on this thread that started this off...Wyn has been rude about deecyprus4 and allowed to get away with it yet I note with interest that her post in response had been removed for being rude.



Izzet you cannot do this and expect to earn respect..that is blatant favouritism..from the first post it was obvious where this was going and it was designed solely to push dee into a corner knowing she would respond.



You and all the mods allowed this to continue knowing what the end result would be, is this a deliberate sabotage to rid the board of a valuable who posts topics of interest about the TRNC in favour of someone who just posts to cause trouble.
