Anyone had problems with the fuse going missing from their apartment? Got a property in Lapta, and just been advised that our fuse and others has gone awol. Not sure if its Kib Tek or a thief. Has anyone had a lock fitted? Any advice would be useful, cheers,Steve

This has been going on for a couple of years now. Had ours stolen twice. Something like £35 to get a replacement.

Steve,

Yes it happened a bit back. somebody posted the details for which fuse it was and where to get them.

Can somebody do it again please. I know a few people that have had their meter cupboards padlocked.

Have been told this happens as they are quite hard and expensive to get hold of... most people in my apartment block placed metal over them and screwed into wall or used garden ties to keep fuse on. People are obviously still able to take them but hopefully they'll be more likely to take one which is not covered!

This is the 60amp home fuse as used in Cyprus.

The hard part is getting the fuse carrier which will most probably will have been stolen with the fuse.

We replaced a fuse for a friend a few months back. Unfortunately people do steal them but if you go into Kib-tec they will take the details and go and fit a new one. It cost us £29.70 (65.35ytl) at the time. It may take a week or so for the new fuse to be fitted but Kib-tec will come and fit a piece of cable straight away and then replace the fuse in due course.

Although I know some people have brought replacement fuses from the UK, it is better to do this through Kib-tec because they changed meter supplier last year so it will depend what type of meter you have. I also don't think it works out that much cheaper.

If you can, I would suggest you cut a hole in your meter box and put in a glass viewing panel so the meter can be read then padlock it up.

Hi All

We had a spout of stolen fuses last year, and most of the owners who leave to go back to the UK take their fuses out and leave in their apt, some have tied theirs with all sort of plastic material, but a few like mine had metal put across, but BEWARE as I live here and have the electric on constant, it caught fire and burnt right through the fuse box and I was left with a gaping hole as the metal got really hot, so the Electric company came out and advised me not to put any metal onto the fuse box if its in use all the time. so its plastic twine on it now. We learn through our mistakes costly
