I have not been on here for a while but am shocked to see this level of moderation. Threads are closed when they would normally die a natural death mainly because the challenge the modertors way of thinking. People are banned or suspended for free speech. I think the people moderating are just completely full of themselves, power struck megalomaniacs who throw their toys out of the pram because somone disagrees or mentions another board. Come on guys get real or get a life.

Maybe another thread about moderators, but this is getting rather out of hand and petty. To alot of people, including myself, this forum is an escape from the pressures and problems we are all experiencing in our lives. Not only the stressful time we are all having with our purchase in TRNC, but the worries and uncertainty of life back at home in the UK. OK, there have been times when I have logged on to 44 and seen the same people in what appears to be their own 'clikck' exchanging views/jokes and comments betwen each other, but to me it is entertainment, an escape from the mundane life of going to and from work trying to earn a decent crust to pay for what I hope will be a better life in the future. (spending more time enjoying my new home in the sun) I received an email from a very well known forum member today, saying he has been banned for a month........how childish....this guy has spent many hours on here and has contributed a great deal to the forum, and how is he treated?

So many people complaining of the blatant abuse of power from the mods. Please please please moderators let us communicate on here. Stop this over censorship. Stop banning people for their humble opinions that may not mean much to you. You are acting like a bunch of school bullies.

stewy If you have concerns about moderation on this board (and that goes for the other posters on this thread) then first port of call is to e-mail any of the mods and or the owner of the board Izzet. It serves no purpose to keep criticizing the mods unless you have addressed your concerns via e-mail first. AJ

Did I observe you carry out an act of moderation today after you said you were no longer an active mod, AJ? Just to know whose side you're on, you understand.

AJ Why should we e-mail the moderators and not make comment on the forum. Have the moderators got a problem with critisism and a fair exchange of views. Surely the board is here for the members and not for the mods and therefore they should not shy away from open debate on the matter as is the norm in a democracy.

As a newcomer, I am unable to see the Moderators email addresses until I have made 50 posts. Please could the Moderators have their email addreses displayed, even for new posters? Thanks.

| pinkchilli Valid point, I will talk to Izzet about it. Cyprusunday. First of all if you have read the BB rules and want to abide by them then rule No.4 is the one you want. Referring to the mods or Izzet by e-mail should be your first port of call and if you do not get an answer or the answer you are happy with then by all means post on the board. The reason why we have had to do this is that there are a few posters on this board that take great delight in trying to cause mayhem by whipping up hysteria. It is easy to criticize moderation on this board but unless you know the full reasons why someone has been moderated then it is better that you seek out the full information first before making comments on the board. | Re MSG 10 & 17 "What side you are on" Surely there are no sides on the forum. It is comments like this are causing many of the problems we have on the forum. This board is for all members to share information and points of view but not at the expense of being blatently rude or abusive to other members. Action taken by the mods is only done when the rules have been broken. Quite often we will be asked to act on a thread. We look at the reason given and if we feel that action should be taken we will do it. But you can bet your life we will be critisised by many for doing so. Life is full of rules and we have to abide by them. Surely, if you are caught driving at 60 in a 30 limit. You get banned. Is that the fault of the police? "the board is here for the members and not for the mods". The moderators are all long standing members of the board so I totally disagree with this comment. Again, a classic case of fingers working before the brain has been turned on. |

Remember the mods are here to help you by keeping threads on the original subject, prevent abusive comments and trying to prevent the forum becoming a mess. Finally, I totally agree with AJ's last comment.

Andy P and AJ.........well said ! There are a minority on here who are agent provocateurs and have ulterior motives for wanting to be divisive and turning this place into a bloodsport. Moderators are a necessary part of any internet forum. Without them...it would all turn a bit "Lord Of The Flies" Some members seem to have a penchant for Shadenfreude and want to see this Board fail.
