Last night after getting my weekly fix of Strictly Come Dancing, I flicked through the channels and got the X factor, so decided to leave it on as back ground whilst I put the slap on to go out, of course the adverts came on amongst the hair/aftershave etc, came an advert for dvds/films. It made me think what are my favourite films? so to have light weight topic amongst our more serious ones here are mine..

they are

Gone with The Wind

Sunset Boulavard

North by North West with delectable Cary Grant

Star Wars

Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Indianna Jones films featuring the sex god Harrison Ford.

I would be interested in seeing what everyone else enjoys.

Hi lovelife

'North by North West' is a great movie

Guys, like you, 'Shawshank redemption' is also up there to for me

Love most of Clint Eastwoods films, especially 'the good bad and the ugly'

'Dancing with Wolves' and 'No way' out with Kevin Costner.

'The great escape' although I have now watched that too many times at xmas

'Innocent voices' a little known Mexican movie is also ace

'Terminators 1 and 2' with Arnie

'The Worlds fastest Indian' with Anthony Hopkins

'Ben Hur and Spartacus' and 'Gladiator'

Love the old 'Ealing comedies' and 'hammer house of horror' and the list goes on and on and on

I must be really sad I loved the BBC version of Pride and Predujice and even though its 5 hours long when I'm feeling a bit low I watch it again. Lost count of how many times I have watched it over the years. Also enjoyed Green Mile but made me weep both on reading the book(which was better than the film) and watching the film. Husband hates it when I do this Also enjoyed Leon and more recently blood diamond. Of course you can't let Christmas go by without seeing the annual A Christmas Carol. Going now before I start talking about Poldark......

The Deer Hunter (leaves me sobbing every time I see it, and I've seen it about 30 times)

Frances (leaves me so angry and devastated I feel like putting my fist through the screen)

Sliding Door (I just love the way our lives can take a completely different turn because of one simple decision/action)

American Pie (so juvenile I know, but it had me in hysterics when I saw it in the cinema; I was roaring with laughter and couldn't stop)

Brief Encounter(so romantic and old fashioned)

The Way We Were (unrequited love is soooooooooooo painful!!)

I love the old Ealing comedies, Norman Wisdom, 'The Window Cleaner' being my favourite. ILC, one of my husband's all time favourites is 'Mona Lisa' starring Michael Caine. Bradus, 'Pride and Prejudice'-love it-so gossipy!

Pulp Fiction is another favourite. A rather unconventional sense of humour is required here. LOL.

A film that had left an impression on me for some years after I'd seen it was, The Ten Commandments. Kept wondering whether God might talk to me, perhaps issue some more commandments for me to pass on, LOL. I was only little. I'm over that now, I am. (You okay God?).

I remember I went to see the Exorcist when i was about 15 in the early 70's, put me off horror films forever LOL.

Watched it again a couple of years ago and couldn't believe how tame it was and what all the fuss was about when it was first released.

Donna.....had a similar effect on me, thought it was very amusing.

I remember the firt time though, outside the cinema they had religous people warning you not to watch it as it was 'wicked', when you came out they were still there praying for your soul, all added to the night out and the scare factor....good stuff.
