Not long returned from Kyrenia.

As usual we had a lovely time. Looked all over for a Slow Cooker, couldnt find one anywhere, which is surprising as they are great for cooking a chicken stews etc, and it just takes the same amount of electricity as a light bulb. Especially good for such as us who are on builders electric and cant use the main oven because of lack of power.

Does anyone know where we could buy one?

They sell them in South Nicosia. There are a couple of electrical shops near the Ledra Palace crossing. Or you could call Amandas auctions?

I brought a batch of them to north Cyprus many years ago and they sold very slowly and eventually sold out a few months back. I did give some to Tektan in Girne to sell and they may still have the odd one. I sold almost the entire batch through friends based on personal recommendations. The locals would not touch them when a shopkeeper told them that the meal is ready in about 4 hours. They may be very slow in everything they do but when it comes to cooking they want it pretty quickly and 4 hours is much too much to plan ahead

Why not buy one in UK and take it over? It's surprising what you can fit into a suitcase!

I would concur with the Wicks.

Mega cheap in the UK and we brought one over, I think it cost us all of £8 but the only problem is they are rather heavy and may eat into your baggage allowance substantially.

AJ, it's not so bad now as power cuts are less frequent, but a few years ago a slow cooker would be just that, put it on one day eat the next if you are lucky.

This thread brought back memories to me of when we first arrived here n NC, we were in a rented villa until ours was completed,I was really excited about using my Worral thomson slow cooker, prepared everthing, turned it on, went out for the day, came back expecting a lovely aroma to meet me as I opened the door, wasn't clued up with the builders electric strengths, hence raw veg, decided to leave it plugged in til next day, still raw, needless to say, It went back in the box until we moved
