Hi we are coming out to N Cyprus in Feb to furnish our new apartment. Is there an ikea-type shop where can buy everything from crockery to dining table? We know there is an ikea over the border, but also know we cant drive over the border!

Hi, don't think you can, I have not found one yet.

Fulya at http://www.cyprusfurniturepacks.net can provide all this for you including curtain poles being fitted, made to measure etc.

She is VERY GOOD VALUE.

FYI a 2 bed apartmentment with fitted EVERYTHING ( inc white goods, beds, lounge & dining furniture, made to measure curtains and poles, crockery, pans etc etc )

cost me about 5K ( may be a bit more now due to the state of the pound )

Hi, there is also a very good shop for crockery, glasses and general household stuff called 1001, very near to Ercan airport. I have heard that they also have another couple of shops in Girne but this one is huge. I would also recommend Homefront in Alsancak. They seem to make most things to oredr. Very reasonable prices too. Owned by a Brit. married to a Cypriot. Very nice, helpful couple.

You can get everything you need here, not neccisarily all in one shop but in our opinion there is no need to go to the south for anything.

If you live east of Girne there are a large number of shops along the road side.

The post above re 1001 is perfect. One at Ercan junction is probably best but we prefer the one in central Lefkosa as it is more quirky and homly.

I call 1001 the shop where you can buy the things you did not even know you wanted!!! I hate shopping but will visit Lefkosa shop anytime we are there.

I can also recommend 1001 store, although have always used the one nearer Famagusta/Bogaz, and didn't know there was one around Ercan/Girne.

They sell almost everything from Ashtrays to Zimmer frames. I often go for a browse but end up buying something.

Not sure whereabouts you are in TRNC, driving from Esentepe/Tatlitsu we go over the mountain road to T junction (K pet garage on left hand side) turn left towards Famagusta, then its about 10 min drive, on the right hand side just before you reach Tesco store, and before the junction where you turn right to Famagusta or left to Bogaz.

It is in a new shopping mall, there's also a supermarket (cheaper than Supreme & Lemar) and other retail outlets.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jock, as you come to the roundabout from the airport road, it is on your left. Obviously, on the right if coming from Girne.

Another favourite of ours is China Bazaar in Lefkosa.

Very similar to 1001 but often better quality.

Next to Lemar at Metehan (Kermia). Easiest way to describe, you will find own route when you know where it is.

From Girne, turn right at Gonyeli roundabout towards Guzelurt, then left at traffic lights. Continue to end of road and at roundabout turn left. For those that already know, yes this is route to Metehan crossing except you turn right at rbout. About 50 yards from rbout you will see China Bazaar and Lemar.
