The Celebrations have started already for the Inauguration of President Obama at the Lincoln Memorial, if you get a chance to watch this, you should.

Its a day that will go down in history, now lets see him get to work.

The actual ceremony starts at 9am New York time, its a big party already, people camping out partying all night long.

The celebration going on right now is amazing,, Washington is at a standstill for this event. Anyone who is anyone is performing.

I wish some of you have a chance to see whats going on right now.

Goosepimples (US version, Goosebumps) all the way.

This is how its done...

He will struggle to live up to hopes and expectations. With the world situation as it is, I expect a very very short honeymoon period.

xxxxxxx,:

Did you just join to add your negativity? innocent until proven guilty , right?

I normally welcome new members, but something tells me you're not "new".

Give the man a chance before you measure him for a coffin. Let him fix the US first before he has to take on the world.

I am sure you will benefit too one day from his work , like he said "it may not take a day , a year or a term but it will be done".

Sorry Turbo

I did not consider my posting to be negative at all. I made no comment about the capabilities of the new President, but was merely commenting that the hopes and expectations of the world are going to be a very heavy burden. Superman would struggle!

Hi everyone, I think he should be good for the US,and following the muck cart Bush must be a plus for him in the short term. Not sure what sort of cans of worms he will uncover - the US and the UK have too much debt, and I was in Cyprus in 2000 when the pratt was elected.. Why they didnt have another election after that fiasco is anybody's guess - it brought the US into disrepute, and sowed the seeds for Bush's foreign policy blundering. Interesting to watch the 2000 election from outside the UK -it gave a broader view than the internal picture - much more balanced.

In the 21st century, its about time that the gun was replaced with the diplomat to sort out solutions, rather than raising more problems down the line due to gung ho policies eg Iraq compared with Mugabe. I wish Obama well as it is a moment in time to remember. regards,Steve

I don't think anyone expects him to mend overnight, the mess that faces him, but already the positivity coming out of the states, and around the world, has to be a good start.

Good luck to him, and the rest of the world, who knows, 2009 may be better than we thought!

What the campaign and the inaugural speech showed me is that he is a politician and a good one. I hope he is a good administrator, diplomat, general and economist, then he may make a good president.

I have to say I am optomistic about his chances.

I know George W Bush was not a very popular President, but I think the way he has welcomed and treated the Obama family should be admired.

Barack gave a moving speech which came over as very genuine. The world can look forward to a very different approach, let's hope that they "Unfold their fists and shake his hand".

As an aside - Aretha Franklin can still belt it out, can't she.

Pity their choir couldn't sing their own national anthem in harmony

and they must have been practising for weeks! Amazing moment in

history though, especially when some of us remember 50 years ago

what it was like in the southern states. My eldest son took the day off

to watch it, and I must admit I shed a few tears, (but then I am quite

an emotional person)

teatime, Bush has given the comedians enough material to keep them going for years.

Phylray: I think half the country took the day off to watch. Most offices I called today were out "sick".
