After numerous house moves, room changes and even one country move by ship, my 10-year old ARCELIK TV has stopped working. On Sunday it was moved down a spiral staircase by a friend and when I plugged it in, the Digiturk worked but there was no power into the TV. I tried different adaptors but no luck. The plug is 2-pin moulded. I rang my father and he suggested I take the back off the TV and check the fuse or for any loose wires. This is beyond me!!!! I looked in the Buzz Book and found two TV repair people. I couldn't contact the first and I don't want to use the second. If anyone can help me, or knows of someone who can, please call me on 0533 8663921 asap!! I only have access to the computer at work and I leave at 12 today! I need to get the TV working before Thursday, and I will be at home this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon. Please, please help!!!! (By the way, I CANNOT lift the TV back up the staircase so CANNOT get it into the car to take it anywhere!!) Thank you!

I don't think it would be wise to start 'fiddling about' inside the back of the TV unless you know what you are doing.

I work hard all day and when I get home in the evenings I like to watch the TV to relax. This is perfectly normal.

try reading if its dark and when we have the light evenings the countryside with flowers trees and birds is wonderful in NC. Also

what can be more relaxing than sitting on a deserted NC beach just watching and listening to the water. On the way home call it at the Titanic and have a nice glass of wine. It is a wine bar isnt it? TV addicts are very sad and those that watch soaps are sadder

Hi ClaireCat44,

Sorry, can't help you with TV.

Don't listen to the useless comments by some.

If you're working all day,

you should be able to relax when you get home.

Each to their own.

Would agree with No1Doyen,

as TV will retain enough power to give you a shock!

Someone on the board will give you some useful info soon.

Best thing would be to get someone to take your TV in for repair.

There's a TV repair shop in Karaoğlanoğlu.

Most likely a loose connection.

on the left coming from Girne.

Good luck.

Check the fuse in the plug, surely it must have one.

DO NOT open the back up, you may be in for a nasty shock. As Navek said "It will retain enough power to give you a shock". This I can tell you is correct because I got one of a computer monitor once.

Hi ClaireCat44,

Have a look at the wires in the plug,

check they are all fitted soundly.

Also, as Andy says, check/change fuse.

Thank you for your comments and thank you to the two people who phoned me last night offering help. The problem has now been sorted. PS I have lived and worked in Turkey and North Cyprus for nearly half my life and have always had a TV. I can't believe you don't have at least ONE TV in your house in the UK. Why should it be different here??
