While in the UK I used to get delicious kebebs from the Kebab Kid on the Old Fulham Road. Here in Cyprus, I have yet to find anything nearly as good. Where do you go here to get a decent kebab? Thanks

Definately the best are Gulen Kebabs in Girne. The only place to have one after a night out (open 24 hours). To find it: Next to the Colony hotel is a Bank, down the side of the bank is an alley. Go down there and you can't miss it.

The man who invented Donor Kebab has died aged 87. Turkish born Mehmet Aygun was the first to serve traditiol kebabs in pitta bread instead of on a plate with rice from his restaurant in Berlin. Aygun came up with the takeaway in 1971 after seeing customers try to eat in a hurry. he said " I thought it would be much easier if they could take their food with them"

A place in Nicosia (Taskinkoy) does the best kofte kebab. It's a bit of of the way but well worth the drive from Kyrenia.

Thanks for the advice. I will try the ones I haven't tried already. I like a doner or kofte. I must say I tried Gulen Kebabs in Girne. I was really ill with food poisoning the next day. Of course it might not have been their food.

Gulen kebabs, I have to say its the worst kebabs ever and super expensive. Just kidding, the secret is out,, darn, now he is going to upgrade, raise his prices and drop his quality, the workmen will stop going he will be out of business and then have to close and no more Gulen (smiler)..more like "Gulmez"(non smiler). ahh ,, life in sunny Cyprus.

Yorkie5b Straight up the road into Ansancak village Fast food on the right just past the betting shop - you won't be dissapointed! Eaten there 3 times this week and was fantastic - as cheap as eating at home & so much tastier (in my case as a lousy cook!) Maggie

Last night I tried the Gulen kebabs and was very disappointed, more wrap than filling and soggy along with several hairs - will not be repeating the experience.
