Hi

Can anyone tell me if you have to pay duty on all electrical items you bring in such as kettle, toaster etc if they are not new. I know you have to pay for TV but not sure about the other electical things

we didnt have to pay for electricals items, as long as they are for household use by yourselves, we had 2 Tv's and paid duty on 1 which was approx 30 sterling. But it all depends on the customs men at the time, they do seem to be very interested in large electrical items, if a TV is brand new then they will charge you, they do check serial numbers but if it is a few months old you won't. As I say it all depends on the day, my friend had 2 TV's and wasn't charged anything, customs chaps love lots of biscuits and Tea

Ditto, no charge for electrical good's, we took a 42" brand new LCD T.V a stereo, all kitchen equipment ie; toaster, kettle etc....Only charged the yearly T.V license. Be really nice to customs, tea and biscuits, good idea, 3 came to our villa, they love English chocolate.

Hi Senay, you helped us out last September, very helpfull Thank you.

Can I just say to all, if you have 'new' goods repackage them, the customs are particularly looking for 'new' curtains if they are in that frame of mind, I took mine over in my case, and sent my clothes over in the container.

Littlemo, we used our 'new' toaster an kettle a week before the container arrive, I also hung the black-out curtains, but I was told I didn't need to do this, simply say they had been dry cleaned.

No problem too big for Olaytrans. Ask questions you will get the answers.

Did ours from packing, shipping, took us through all the customs things and then delivered.

If you are coming here to live, do not intend to work ie retired, then your household possesions are imported free of tax, including the TV!!
