This morning I had to pay 23 TL for a (green) bottle of gas. Does anyone know why the gas is more expensive again? Was it announced somewhere?

Re msg 1 .Thats up about a £1.50p . Surely it should be coming down . I was talking yesterday to 2 friends who have property in the South . I was telling them of the high increases people were experiencing in the North for utilities . They were quite shocked , their's is nothing like what people pay in the North !

Hans

You are experiencing the '4th' pricing principle of NC.

Dutch are charged even more than British.

To sound more 'British' practice and repeat the following words:

Air,..... Hell,.....Low.

The next time you greet a British Gentleman or Lady, or require to make a local purchase,..

say those words together,...

you will be accepted as British and get a lower price.

One company suplies one colour and another company supplies the other colour. The green bottles require an initial deposit on the first bottle purchased and I think the blue bottles do not.

Bottled gas:

Intergaz = colour blue

Koopgaz = colour light green

Jetgaz = colour dark green

All require a deposit for the first bottle, thereafter the price for an exchange bottle will be cheaper.

It was my understanding that all of the bottled gas companies set a common price between them so all gas prices should be the same. I think that at one time the Government were responsible for setting prices but it is now in the hands of the bottling companies.

Of course what individual shops are charging may be different, I know one small shop in Alsancak that stays open on all holiday days but charges extra for the priviledge. But when buying bottled gas at a supermarket unless it is your first bottle then always make sure you tell them that it is an exchange. The same goes for the 19ltr bottles of water.

The difference between a Blue bottle and a green bottle is" A blue bottle comes from a Large fly and a green bottle comes from a small fly . One is from a maggott and the other is from a pinkie !.

Today I have just paid 21Tl for an exchange Intergaz bottle from Atakara.

In my view Intergaz are probably more consistent with their filling than the others. When used in our gas heaters they seem to last longer than others.

So it appears as though 21Tl is the going rate for all bottled gas, If you are asked to pay more then ask questions.

I would pay more if they deliver the bloody bottles, I have been given so many different numbers to call and not one of them can get the address right, so hence I have to wait until someone comes to take it out of my boot and carry it upstairs for me, even though on the first floor I would'nt be able to carry it up the stairs. All I want is for some one to deliver just one then they will know where my apt is, is this a lot to ask.

Green bottles are Propane and Blue are Butane.

Butane and is classed as a Hard gas and has a higher pressure cylinder

Green bottles are Propane and needs less pressure so deemed safe for bbq's and patio hearters etc.
