Im thinking of booking easyjet, Luton to Istanbul and spending a couple of nights and fly on to Ercan.

Has anybody done this before?

Would like information on flight prices from Istanbul-Ercan, hotels and any thoughts or experiences people might have.

Thanks

Hi Tootie,

Yes, we did this last October. Flew with Easyjet from Luton to Istanbul. Got a taxi from the airport to Sultanhamet and stayed in the Stone Hotel. 3 minutes to Blue Mosque and easy walk to Grand Bazar, Topkapi Palace. Tram to Ferry port for trip up the Bosphoras. 2 nights is not long enough in Istanbul, you need at least 4. We then flew Pegasus to Ercan. word of advice, you can get a dolmus kind of taxi from and to the airport for a lot less than a normal taxi.

this is a clever marketing ploy - the fares may have been reduced - but wait till the taxes are added on! good luck..

You are quite right semtcm, always seems a good deal until you get to the final page and the taxes are added. However, it is the same with all airlines and booking direct. I have to say that we've decided now to stick with KTHY for TRNC as the flights are at least consistant and we are committed to flying school holidays. For that reason, KTHY often come out as cheap if not cheaper than flying to larnaca

KTHY do not forget that also Turkish and Pegasus offer year round flights to North Cyprus and sometimes they are more competitive than CTA.

Not so much marketing ploy but trying to appear competitive. See Ryan air for £0.01p often to / from airports that might be difficult (expensive) to get to, looks good though. Just see what it realy costs with taxes, baggage, booking etc added.

Also all the prices under the sun are no use unless an option is held at the time of quoting so any agent should have your details to serve you best. (Mostly the airilnes will let them hold an option at a price for anything from 12 hours - more often 24 hours to up to 8 or 10 days.)
