1 year in advance ??

Dream on - there is a recession !

More empty shops than you can shake a stick at.....

In normal countries they give so many months rent free and pay towards to shop fitting...

Sounds a bit like buying off plan to me. Pay up front get nothing. No water , no electric, no kocan. When will they learn?

Robin Hood, there won't be a kocan as they are up for rent, not purchase and Pembe is a very well respected person. This is quite normal practice for commercial premises!! The shops are in a very good location too.

Well I hope who takes it on does well enough to cover the rent, if not another business going to the wall. If of course the business survives and actually prospers then no doubt the rent will remain static for the next 12 months.

robin hood,

not really much different to renting in the uk or northern ireland which is where i am, no water no electric, landlords that dont cut any slack on commercial property even in this economical crisis, you pay all your own bills i had to personally kit out my salon it was a tip,new floors ceiling electrics etc etc, at a monthly rental 6 times what this person is asking with rates being slightly less, and probably the same size if not smaller, as long as you go into business with your eyes wide open be it uk ,ireland , trnc it makes no difference you can make bad business choices wherever you are.this seems like a reasonable amount, i cant remember seeing any commercial property for £200 per month here...

Please look into this, make sure you're landlord is registered with the relevant TAX office as this could cause you allot of probs.

We had a very good landlord who declared everything to the autharities and was not greedy.

Please make sure every thing is above board before you sign any agreement as even thou is is not your responsibility you are liable for every thing being in place if you require some sort of business permit

Good luck for the future

we also have many year experience in running our own business.

here in the trnc is a totally different senario, not as simple as elsewhere.

i think thats what they are trying to warn you.

hi firestarter

yes i understand also the helpfull advice given, but i am from trnc so have experience with matters like this.

maybe its a good warning though for people who are not from trnc so they are aware of how things work.

mess 12 - like a lamb to the slaughter !

Before you take the plunge - suggest you talk to some business's over here to find out what's involved.

Crissie who ran "Bodyworks" in Karakum had the stuffung kicked out of her by the system - she ended up moving to Larnaca.....

mess 17

at no point did i say i was opening a business, infact i made an enquiry re this thread, not that i stated who it was for whether myself or a friend....

infact i said 'thanks for email pembe will be in touch soon... and prior to that i said have emailed you, from this im not sure where people have presumed that i am suddenly running into a business with eyes closed im not really sure..at no stage did i say oh great shop for rent years rent upfront ill have 2 units please???

people just presumed that i was rushing into something that in fact possibly isnt even for me, maybe folks should slow down before they presume people are running before they can walk, if i had posted im looking to open a business and etc etc then i can take on board peoples comments, apprehensions and feedback but i didnt infact no where on this thread have i mentioned it.

so like a lamb to the slaughter.. im not sure i know what you mean.

well thats intelligent, i dont think there is any need for that, perhaps you have no awnser to a logical explanation i posted.

there really is no need for rudeness, but each to there own i suppose

so after jumping the gun and getting involved in something that really didnt concern you, you then feal the need to insinuate that i am stupid?? (like a lamb to a slaughter) and then tell me im bonkers????

you obviously are a very complex person and i see no logic in your postings re this thread apart from being rude to me.

not being rude - anyone who reads the thread from start to finish will be scratching their head thinking how pointless your replies were.

I appreciate I'm not the smartest kid on the block, but I'm struggling to work out why you posted to pemos that you had sent him/her and email and then thanked pembe for the reply, presumably to your email, if it had nothing to do with this thread and the offer of a shop for rent. I may not be negativenicks greatest fan but I can understand the confusion.

MESS 24

ok i will explain it clearly pemos is her sign in name, the lady i dealt with is called pembe...so far so good? I emailed her off board regarding a private matter which i did not want to post on forum between me and pemos.. ok so far? i then returned to look at thread where some members were posting comments and advice/opinions regarding taking a business on...? at no stage did i post i was looking for a shop, that the shop unit was for me, that it might of been for a friend or family, hence i emailed her privately, to then find that many had posted comments like LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER, LOOK INTO THIS CAREFULLY, BONKERS,WHEN WILL THEY EVER LEARN????

i couldnt really understand the negativity regarding this thread as no posts were left saying can i have 2 units and i will give you 2 years rent upfront.or yes please i will take a shop on infact i never left a post stating this, people just presumed that i was looking to open a business,

where the confusion comes into it, i also do not understand as it was quite straightforward until i recieved negative and not very nice postings, as far as i was concerned i was dealing with pemos who opened the thread and no one else, to be called bonkers and a lamb to the slaughter is very presumptious as i presume negative nick doesnt have access to my emails therefore has absolutely no idea what i discussed with pemos, again just presumed i was opening a busines also might i add not any of his concern and i dont appreciate him or anyone telling me im bonkers and like a lamb to the slaughter because frankly i dont understand all the irrelavant postings apart from those people who only offered me there advice like paddy and firestarter.

Unfortunately there are some on this board that have chips on their shoulders (not Cyprus chips) because their attempts at life in the TRNC have not come to fruition and rather than give supportive help to others they tend to adopt the attitude that if they can't succeed then why should anyone else.

Take care

Thank you so much for your positive words, its really nice to hear positive comments as like you say many are negative and have nothing nice to say about trnc, or other people. In a few short months i will be in trnc back home should i say, and i couldnt think of a better place to be and i know it will go well for me as i dont have unrealistic expectations, and love cyprus for the good and the not so good, but hey thats why i love it!!

thank you once again

Ok, so you use the forum to tell your friend that you have emailed them and then to say you have got their reply. I should have realised that obviously, and of course that your exchange of emails would have absolutely nothing to do with the posting. Yep, that makes perfect sense to me.

Meanwhile, I know it's to do with the topic, but what the heck, again because I'm not the brightest star in the sky, why would a non TC, who make up the majority I would guess on this forum, want to start a business in NC when it is very apparent that the government and the local authorities don't want non TC's in business and go out of their way it seems to make life as difficult as possible for those foolhardy enough to try? Just a thought.

here we go again..... at the cost of being repetitive....

i saw the thread was interested emailed the lady in question she replied i posted and said thank you to her (her name being pembe) clear enough now

NO SHE IS NOT A FREIND ok ?? clear enough for you now?????

the exchange of emails was to do with the posting ok????

you know what i dont even know why i am bothering because it is so simple the confusion is you lot not reading and jumping to conclusions.. the confusion is all caused by people who dont read postings......

with regards to you other question, i have no idea why perhaps you should take this up with relevant authorities as to why they dont want non tcs to open a business, nothing to do with me im afraid!!!!!!
