not just that nick. look at the benefits. do you suffer from depression because if you do the sun will fix that. We have lost all our money through bad investments but we still work here and try our very best. We now look at the alternatives. Nic life is so very short you have to try to make the most of each and every day. If you think negative thoughts then you will remain negative. I think deep down you are lovely and you have a great following. Does that not inspire you to turn positive. You will soon have more to gain. xxxxxx

Nick,

You are negative, but you always mix in a element of truth, that's way you get people to react co much. 44 would be a far lesser forum without you.

I'm happy with my purchase, but that's incidental...

I have to go into the Turk Bank in Alsancak near the Golden Lady tomorrow. If the queue is too long is there anywhere I can nip out to for a cofee and a nice snack?

Mess 6 - i am a realist...

my tip for a happy existence over here, is to rent a completed property with all mains services and have enough behind you to live comfortably.

Unfortunately far too many have bought from builders who have let them down and have dwindling incomes from the plumbeting interest rates.

AND a bit of lively banter never hurt anyone !

Your comments hardly qualify to be described as either lively or banter. If you think so you must live an incredibly dull life.

Bought here because we love it, the climate, the people, the way of life, and yes the property prices. We have a fabulous villa, completed on time and Kocan issued quickly, despite the problems and the ongoing talks we would not swap places with anyone, that is my honest answer.

Negativenick msg 1

"We bought here because it was cheap....."

Certainly price is one criteria when anyone buys anything but it is rarely the only criteria. Property in North Cyprus was and to a degree still is cheap compared to other comprable areas in the med. The reason for this is not only because a large % of property here is disputed. Even undisputed property in the North was and to a degree still is cheap comparatively. Not as cheap as disputed but still cheap compared with similar locations eleswhere.

Before the Annan Plan it was rare for non Cypriots to buy property in the North. Almost all of those that did had some sort of prior 'connection' with the place.

I am at a loss really to understand what you are saying? Its like saying people who bought Kia cars did so because they were cheap. Er yeah to a degree but so what ?

I can confirm its not just anthony i to yawn at your negativity and have nothing but empathy for your current persona. Maybe your comments ın message 8 are ındeed a mırror of ones own mıstakes. Feel free to vacate the TRNC and return to dear old blıghty were you would have a large captıve audıence hangıng on every NEGATIVE comment.

Nick. A contentious thread but I agree, most people bought here because it was cheap, not everyone but certainly the majority.

I'm being honest when I say that wasn't the reason I bought here - I bought because I love the place and could afford to do so and wasn't concerned about any financial gains or losses.

Nick the Neg - Ah, now I understand

I doubt that I have the time or, the inclination, but if I put my mind to it like you do, I suppose I could, but for now, it's your platform

Going down in History for a BB post....mmm?

My good lady and I bought here on a whim and I am glad to say, have settled in nicely!

negative nick.........if you only bought here because it was cheap, i have an idea for you.

Sell your house in the TRNC, and move back to the UK, where property prices are cheaper than ever.....im sure you can buy a 3 bed home for 150,000 GBP in south london.

If price is the only reason your here......you know exactly where the airport is.......you can always take a flight back for ever, nobody is stopping you!

canyavuz,

I doubt Nick would find a buyer for his property, so returning to the UK without selling is really an impossibility.

Speaking personally, after we moved from the UK to the TRNC and then back to the UK some 5 years later, we were £50,000 poorer than when we left the UK. The TRNC is no longer a buy cheap and sell for a massive profit area that it used to be. To come away breaking even would be something but I really don't see anyone making a profit, or even breaking even, on their homes this side of 2012.

Timothy Cadman - I totally agree with you. We invested a (relatively) small amount on a holiday apartment here in NC a few years ago, but whilst it has afforded us cheapish holidays, I would still rather have the money either in a UK bank (earning no money) or under my mattress (again, earning no money). At least I would know it was safe (earning no money).

PS Do you think you'll ever come back??
