Am I right in thinking that the electric meters are in the builders name until transfer of deeds? There was a post on this a while ago, but I cant find it. £500 to change into our name rings a bell.....any advice appreciated.

This is true but why worry. Our Electric meter has been in the name of the landowner for 7 years now. Why waste £500.

Dinky I don't think there is a going rate as such. It depends totally on the circumstances of your property, i.e. it's location to the main supply, etc.

Hi,I paid to be connected ( electric ) 1.205 tL to the electric Board K.K.T.C .the main line was ca 10 meters from my place(otherside of the road) .The connection was carried out (ground work etc) from my contractor included in the contract price .The water connection was carried out also by the contractor this was included in the contract price as well, no extra payment.

NOTE: There is a "tourist" and a Local price....if you pay the developer he can have them put in at the local rate ( about £300 )....quite often they will have them put in for you, but still request the "tourist" rate from you ( about £1k )...hence an nice little profit for him...unless you know...and..know you do!

Note: this is for the Meter installations..all else is included in the build costs
