From where i live in the uk its as easy for me to fly from either Manchester or Stansted but i've only ever flown MAN with KTHY. Looking at some dates i have in mind its a little cheaper to fly from Stansted with Pegasus.

Ive always been very happy with KTHY on the MAN route and wonder if paying a little less with pegasus would be really worth it?

Any views on either airline and route?

Thanks

Tootie.

i live in manch and allways use kthy or turkish into ercan ,or monarch into lca .

now this year my summer flights were £1300 for 4 adults with kthy,i clickedx with pegasus and from stanstead were £530 all in .

now call me old fashion but well worth a drive out to stanstead ,lol.

for £20 though per person you have to way up car parking or public transport etc and may be even the route or flexibility of times of flights ?

Its horses for courses I suppose but I for one would not travel to a southern UK airport, been there, done that when there was no choice.

Earlier this year I started booking a Monarch flight to LCA from Manchester that was advertised at £120, by the time all the extras had been added it was over £200, which for a budget airline to an airport I didnt really want to go to was a bit expensive I thought so I went THY.

Pegasus are always slightly cheaper but only provide a trollet service. It would be nice to see either airline cabin crews smile for once , they seem so unhappy perhaps they have had a pay cut.

We have always found Stanstead an easy airport to go through The check in desk right up on the left corner so out of the way.Boarding gate clean bright and quiet and last time I went out new coffee bar which was pleasant. Pegasus staff pleasant but snack food only and everything priced at euro or pound treated equally,we have paid £89.00 one way booked last week for this month. Good value we think

Nothing in it at those prices. With Pegasus you have to buy a meal but the 10€ meal is pretty good.

Service about the same. I think the CTA crews have cheered up a bit recently. I think they have slightly better shifts at the moment hence they aren't dead on their feet.

Irrespective of what airport you want in the U.K the thread was CTA or Pegasus. Having flown with both airlines from Ercan-Stansted many times i would plumb for Pegasus without doubt. Friendly cabin crew, and flight times and checking in at both airports better than CTA.

I will not be enthusiastic about Pegasus until they start using Manchester.

Or even better Leeds!

Don't forget that there is no food on Pegasus. Yes, I am aware that KTHY food isn't really upto much but at least it's edible and passes and hour.

I just used Pegasus this week, for the second time and would use them every time.

Plane was brand new, all leather seats, great.

Went from Manchester to Larnaca in December- never again, worth paying a little extra with KTHY. Paid £276 return for 1 in September 10 days Saturday to Wednesday, cheaper to fly Wednesday flight than Saturday. Friend of ours is a Captain on KTHY I told him Brits were complaining about cabin crew, he said it was being addressed as complaints had been passed on to staff training.

KTHY staff are the most miserable lot I've ever come across. They are so rude.

I took my (then) six month old son out to see his grandparents, I travelled with just myself and him, they were so unhelpful. I asked to be moved so I could have some extra space when a lot of passengers got off in Turkey and they wouldnt let me even though there were free seats. I couldnt eat or go to the toilet if it were not for some other kind people on the plane.

My husband let rip on them when he travelled home recently saying no wonder they couldnt compete with the South regarding tourism if thats how they treat passengers...and believe me he aint no fan of the greeks!!!

And I always look at KTHY on the net for a rough guide, then call them, it always comes up cheaper.

Ive always found the food ok with kthy.

Also im a large chap and i booked seats near the wing exit and because im big airlines dont like you sittng by the wing exit and ive been asked before by airlines such as ba, firstchoice to cuba and bmi baby if i wouldn't mind moving seats. The only time ive been asked by cabin crew in a discreet way was on a kthy flight last year.

All the other airlines came upto me in my seat when the whole plane had loaded and doors shut to ask if id mind moving, which means finding someone else if they mind moving and in front of a plane load of people this is VERY embarrissing.

Kthy on the other hand had seen where i was sitting whilst boarding and asked me to come to the back of the plane and explained the situation and was sorted with no fuss or embarrasment.

Batterboy,

On 2 return flights in June and August from Stansted to Ercan in 2008 the only food that we had available was the one that they sold off the trolley and all priced in Euros with a lousey exchange rate too from either Sterling or Lira. If my memory serves me correctly there was a choice of hot meal, either beef or chicken that cost 10 Euros, and drinks of Coke at 2 Euros. If that's the same today, that's £10 per meal and £2 for a bottle of pop!

Maybe we were just unlucky, maybe things have changed and international flights have their meals back.

kthy has actually improved on their sercvice recently, probably due to the number of complaints recieved last year, and to keep their standards up with their new flights to 2 german cities, and Tehran of Iran.

Pegasus can give you really good deals, and is subject to the same length of stop over as are the KTHY flights.

KTHY is more flexible. More flights. Pegasus can be cheaper, but not so flexible.

KTHY is less hassle to be honest,

Timothy

First you state that there is no food on Pegasus, then in your next post you go on to describe what food you had. Maybe it's just me but I find this just a tad contradictory.

I have always flown with KTHY mainly because in the past that was the only choice and have always found them okay, maybe the planes are a little tired and the cabin crew a bit dour but at the end of the day you are going from A to B and not on a social trip.

I flew with Pegasus last year and they were okay, we took our own food as most people did but you could buy food on board and if as TC said it was £10

thats not bad considering the likes of Thomson etc charge £12.

Batterboy,

I didn't say that I had food on the flight, just that we could have purchased food on the flight at an extra cost to the flight ticket that we had bought, which, because of the cost, we did not do, nor did we buy any drinks.

I've tried them both and there is very little to choose between them, living near to Manchester airport the price on Pegasus needs to be good to make up for the long journey to Stansted. At present we are getting ready to book our long awaited one way flight, I will fly with Dan Dare Airlines just so long as I get to Ercan and can start my retirement in TRNC.

So much for CTA, cannot get a quote ECN-LHR-ECN for December returning March, let alone a time schedule so as to connect to already booked Australia flight journey!

I priced CTA from Manchester only yesterday £248pp, and TK £253 so thats a bit less that £1250 for 3people!

4 hours to get to the airport plus 2 hour check-in, thats 6 hours before you get to the plane! Very tiring.
