You could have gone by Turkish Airlines from Manchester on the same dates for £278 per person all in so for three it would be £834 all in. Given the choice Turkish is far superior and the timings were good, these were on Momondo flight search.

Codger

With Turkish Airlines is there a change of planes ?(maybe at Istanbul) and if so what are the gaps between connecting flights?

The flights we have been on stop at Istanbul, you get off and go to the transit lounge where the gates are. You then board another aircraft for the flight to UK, the whole procedure is done ( normally ) in one hour or about the same time as the stay on the plane and wait time is. Your baggage is automatically transferred from one plane to the other, some will say this is inconvenient but we found it quite good as the leg stretch is welcome and the hour goes very quickly.

The real plus side is the good food, comfortable aircraft with plenty of leg room and good flight attendants and we have had, not on all flights, a film.

Worth checking the prices as Turkish are sometimes less than CTA and Pegasus depending on time of year, also a bigger choice of flights.

Hope this is of some help

Codger similar but with a longer lay over in Istanbul to and from Birmingham for those in the West and South West of the UK

I now try to use Turkish as often as possible as the real cost (the flight+ tax is higher than Pegauss on an exact date /flight comparison ) with parking fuel etc is lower for us in the Forest of Dean than the true cost to Stansted

Three days a week there are 2 flights a day MAN-IST, only one each other day.

The second flight gives you between 1hr 45 and 2 hrs 15 to change aircraft going home. The outbound flight as posted is one hour and you need nearly that to do it.

Another tip. Get a Garanti bank credit card and you get to us the lounge free in Istanbul if you have to use the flights with longer stops of about 4 hours.

CTA flight yesterday, Sunday, very sad to see a half empty 737 Boeing flight from LHR to Antalya emptying all but 50 pax to the onward journey to Ercan. Wonder why the price of fares are so high?!

Just booked one way tickets, Manchester to Ercan, CTA were asking £409 for two people, Turkish Airlines £273, no brainer really.
