Hi all,



Hubby and I, are trying to do a budget for living in the TRNC to see if he can retire early. I roughly know how much electric and water, gas, food etc will cost but I take 2 prescription drugs which I will have to pay for. Does anyone know how much Simvastatin 20mg and Losartin 50mg costs. Will I need a prescription from a GP in TRNC or can you just buy from the pharmacy. Any advice appreciated.

I think most drugs can be bought over the counter. Exceptions that I know of are sleeping pills and drugs like valium.



I cannot say how much the ones you mention would cost but 3 of the medications I have bought are price restricted at about 6.5tl each.

I enquired about Simvastatin 40mg last time we were over - no prescription required and about £11 a month

Oh thats quite a lot. I take crestor and those are very expensive here around 26 euros so I get them south side where they are a bit cheaper xx

Simvastatin 20mg were around 28TL for 28 tablets a while ago over the counter but the doctor in Esentepe can get 2 months supply for around 20TL. A neighbour has been quoted 70TL for 28 tablets of Losartan 100mg, may be cheaper via the doctor. You can definitely get both of these over the counter.
