Hi I am a new owner in TBV and I am in the process of furnishing my flat. I have been quoted £858 for curtains for a 2 bed apt. Can anyone tell me if this is roughly a reasonable cost. We can get them for much less in Scotland'

Cheers - Froggie

Froggie

It depends on how many windows you have and also how many patio doors you have. Where did you get this quote from and did that include putting rails up as well?

Buy them in the UK and take them over.

If they can't treat you with a bit of repect they don't deserve the business.

It depends what you are paying for. We paid around that sum of money but they guy came out and measured all the windows and then installed all the poles and tie backs. We didn't need to do anything. The price included full length net curtains for 3 double patio doors, blind for the kitchen, nets for the 2 bedrooms and ordinary curtain. I don't think you would get it in England for the quality of curtains that we have. We used the little Turkish shop at Karakum.

Bring out as much as you can from UK is my humble opinion.

We took out 2 x sets of lined voile curtains (both for large patio doors), poles, etc. We also took fly screens for all windows and 2 x sets of "Cafe nets" for our "borrowed light thingy" that runs through our apartment. Total cost - less than £150.00.

Having said that, we only use our apartment for 5/6 weeks of the year. If I lived in TRNC permanently (God help me) it may be that I would splash out on more expensive stuff.

Hi Froggie

We paid about £800 for all the curtains, voiles, poles, tie backs, roman blinds in our two bed at TBV. We used the Curtain Shop in Kyrenia and have to say we have been very pleased with everything they have done for us. They came out and measured up and put everything up for us. We didnt have to do a thing. Others have taken curtains and voiles out themselves and bought them in the UK and probably saved money but we couldnt be bothered with the hassle of getting someone to measure up and then hunt for everything here and then have the hassle of putting them up. I feel te £800 we paid was well worth every penny. Would definitely recommend the Curtain Shop.

Hi Froggie We got a quote from the curtain shop for curtains for our two bedroomed apartment on Crystal Bay Marina and they quoted £650 which we think is reasonable. Tony.

Hi

We bought all our curtains in Scotland and brought them over on a flight to pathos with globespan as you can buy extra weight £15 for 10 kilos. Bought our poles from Fiskos - delivered and hung at no extra cost. I told him how long the curtains were and he put the poles up to correspond. We were lucky as all our windows were 90" drop which is a ready made size.

Hope this helps

3 Ikea poles @ 7 euro each, 2 sets 62X72 lined curtains La Redoute sale 18 quid each. I set 90X90 lined from discount store for patio doors @ 32 quid. Poles bought Lefkosa, curtains bought UK and brought out in a vac bag in the bottom of the case. Fitting poles by me.

858 quid??????? Or am I cheapskate?
